Quote from: Estimator on March 18, 2025, 11:02:41 AMI think that Lynch's quad is gone and we won't see him this season - so that's 3 out completely (McCloskey, McKinless and Lynch). Another goalkeeper is required, and one that is ready to be thrown straight in at the start of the Championship.

I think we'll play Armagh with an even weaker side again next week. It makes sense to rest the likes of Glass, McGuigan, the Dohertys and McEvoy. Given Tally's comments after the game, the wider panel might be given a run out.

Terrible news.
We effectively don't have a keeper if this is the case. I'd go looking for Scullion to see if he can be brought in - no idea why he's not on the panel I think I remember seeing something about him coaching u20s?

It would be sensible to protect players now and use the Armagh game to have a look at an alternative keeper and some of these Dev Squad players - especially as this is a dead rubber match.
I should say, I thought Glass put in a serious shift against Mayo - he hit some top class scores. God help us if he picks up an injury at this stage.

Yeah basically no Keeper on the panel at this stage. A disastrous injury to pick up at this stage.

Lynch's third quad tear in a couple of years, I'd say he's looking at around 8 weeks minimum I would say.

Our other two keepers are the lad from Lavey, although did he leave? And gribben from newbridge who might also be injured. Both are fairly young too

i would agree. no point risking a glass or a McGuigan now. good to see Kevin Quinn on the bench, assuming he played v Tyrone last weekend? also seen paddy quigg beside him on the bench. do we know if clubs sent they're players forward or these players were selected by the Management?

How can a muscular injury rule you out for the whole season?

If it rips off the bone?

If that's the case the season is a write off, we won't do anything without a top goalkeeper

If it's the same injury that kept him out of the club season I'd say it probably is his year over for the county, will guess they will now stick with McNicholl as it's a big call to throw someone else in at this stage. Absolutely no luck this year

Wildweasel74

Is the lad from Newbridge there, He got the makings of a good keeper. I thought he declined a invite.

Derry Optimist

In order to give the majority of Derry's potential Ulster Senior championship starting fifteen a well-earned  rest and to give fringe players and those recovering from injury an ideal opportunity to make a claim for promotion to the first team, I would play the following side against Armagh in the last round of the League next Sunday.
                                     James Gribbin
Mark Doherty                    Martin Bradley                Ryan Mulholland
Patrick McGurk                  Padraig McGrogan              Kevin Cassidy
Dan Higgins       Ciaran McFaul (if fit).
Ray McCarron                    Niall Toner(capt)             Jody McDermott
Caolan Devlin                   Niall Loughlin                Cahir McMonagle

You will have noticed that I have included four experienced and top quality players in the side in Padraig McGrogan,Niall Toner, Ciaran McFaul and Niall Loughlin. This should have the dual advantage of all four, who have been injured, attain match fitness, while giving leadership and encouragement to all of the remaining eleven players.

Totally agree with most of this team. Kevin Cassidy is just a bit too old now though and he's donegal. Ray mccarron was a great player but he's got to be over 60 now and he's a monaghan man. A 26 year old Casidy and mccarron I'd definitely take.

Yes there's experience and then there's this

Ben McKinless called up. He will be the championship keeper
