I thought he was poor enough tbh.
Rogers our best player by a mile and glass took his goal well, but we were 2nd best all over the field. Said it a while back I thought we'd struggle in MF with new rules and we were cleaned out on kickouts. When we did break a ball tyrone were first to most of them.
Early days I suppose and we prob haven't had as long together as tyrone, but they were also missing the Errigal players. Tyrone should have had 3 goals in the first half.

I think we're looking at relegation.

Really poor display all around I agree, soft in tackles, 2nd to everything. Gilmore and Declan Cassidy are miles off the standard required. Lachlan Murray has be threatening to arrive for about 3 years now. Ben Mc Carron being our first sub worries me.
I get Mc Kinless, Mc Grogan and Mc Cluskey change the defence but some sort of back up will be required.

The biggest problem was in midfield. Brian Kennedy had a great game and nobody got near him.

We starting out behind with the late appointment of a manager nobody saw coming. Fitness still way off the rest of the teams at the minute Derry be OK Defence and Midfield come the summer, but,as in the past 4yrs we not found 2 scoring forwards to take pressure of McGuigan. We no speed in the full forward line and u need that with the 3 v 3 set ups. What we be like with the 2 Canavans. Goalkeeper issue gonna come to the fore, Lynch simply has not the fitness or ability for out the field. Good traditional keeper but that's it. The option of playing a outfield player in nets needs to be looked at. Strange to see N McNicholl there, after turning down requests to join the panel over the yrs. Should been there past 10yrs

Poor day out, don't actually think he is a midfielder, would be more suited to full forward. If he insists on the same team the 3 up front would work better with Toner, Tohill, Murray. Can't be having players like Mc Guigan, Mc Faul, Ethan stuck on half way line when they have naturally high work rate. 3 forwards are only being used to hold up the ball

jb77

Tohill has no desire to do anything with the ball, looked out of his depth. In saying that, Brian Kennedy is able to negate his strengths about as well as anyone could

Wildweasel74

Lad no confidence and wasn't great, but it's up front where we got problems. For a long time now, I been saying the way underage club fball in Derry set up is not for open fball, same with schools fball. We are not producing open attacking forwards, whereas in Kerry they constantly do. So somewhere down the line it has to be the way they been coached.

Champion The Wonder Horse

Learned absolutely nothing from that game that we didn't know two years ago.

Hate to say it but I think this team has peaked and we are on the road down again. Missed the boat in 23'

Can we throw it in after another tanking by Kerry next weekend?

Sure Kerry haven't beaten us in the league in 9 years

Lots of experts here tonight. We do all realise it's still January, yeah?

Tonight was this team's 3rd/4th game playing with an entirely new set of rules which have fundamentally changed the game of 'football' (for the better? Remains to be seen).

Murray looked bright. Tohill showed great athleticism for the goal. Rogers & McGuigan not long back with the squad. Was it perfect? No. I agree Lynch may not be suited to the role of what a goalkeeper is used for in the new rules, but we need to find alternatives during the league.

2023 - We played our strongest team in every NFL game and didn't have a strong panel come championship.
2024 - We won the league. where did it get us?

We need to find players & a style of play with the rules. Have a pit of perspective ffs.

We're still 5/6 players off what's needed there's no question. Our first half was terrible but we were much better second half. Gilmore/the 2 Cassidy's/Tohill/Toner probably aren't Div1 County footballers.

Add to that the fact CD/Glass and Murray didn't play particularly well and you get what happened tonight!

Champion is right none of this is particularly new information but the management need to pull out a midfielder and maybe a couple of forwards in the league otherwise it'll be another long Championship for us.

Very disappointed to lose JD I thought he could have offered something different up front this year and apparently he'd played really well in all the challenge games so far. County football isn't for everyone though so what can you do?
