Have we heard of any call ups under new management? Would imagine they'd be wanting a panel together relatively soon.

The amount of tyrone managers you lot have had you may as well call this the Tyrone thread  ;D
With the lack of esteem some Tyrone posters seem to have for their past AI winning managers Harte, Logan and Dooher it might be no surprise that some Tyrone ones choose to come to Derry.

Lets be honest Tyrone has some strange individuals. Should be statue erected of Mickey Harte and the stand in Omagh named after him.  Without him Tyrone could still be stuck on zero Senior All Irelands won, even the last All Ireland won it was done the team/panel that Mickey built.
You might be better to sit this one out, the abuse All Ireland captain and ultimatly manager McGeeney took in Armagh. Even a plane to tow a banner hired to abuse him  ???
Is it a fair comparison to compare a manager who took a county with zero all Ireland's in their history to three in first 6 years management to a manager who didn't win a game in Ulster in first four years and still hasn't delivered an Ulster title? As another poster said there should be a statue of Mickey Harte in Omagh.  Mcgeeney took alot of criticism and justifiably  at times but deserves alot of credit given Armagh's underage record during his tenure to manage a winning all Ireland team. Regardless of what happens from now he will be an Armagh legend and held in high esteem I would expect and anyone that does not knows nothing about football.
Hard to make head or tail of that but I'll try. You think Tyrone people would abuse our first All Ireland winning captain Peter Canavan as McGeeney was treated?.. and a plane hired to trail a message across the sky about him.
Was a golden era of Tyrone players... Canavan, Cavanagh, Dooher, Gormley 'the block', Mugsy, McGuigan.. brilliant players and Harte did a good job too. Probly should have stepped aside in 2010 tho...
Not sure there'll be any statues...

Here would yous Armagh and Tyrone wans fcuk off our Derry thread with your sad arguments about who shit on their all-ireland winning managers the most.

Load of f**king amateurs. We sacked our only AI winning manager after one defeat the following year. Stabbed in the back a la Julius Caesar by his coach and selectors. [allegedly]

Quality service over the years, hope Eoin McEvoy is hanging about at this rate though

Newbridge Exile

Probably the right call, a great servant over the years for Derry

Hard2Listen2

Down man so no vested interest in Derry football but curious to know is McKeague's decision a reaction to Paddy Tally's appointment?

On a side note he had been a great player for his club & county over the years.
A player that would have played for any county in any era.

Rte has an interview with McKaigue, should fill in your blanks

A serious player and competitor, has given so much to the Derry over the years.

Mid 30s end of the day Down man

Owes Derry nahin

THEALBION1878

looking forward to seeing if Tally brings any new additions onboard. definitely could add a few players. any recommendations for defenders out there and forwards?

Brendan

Defensive options looking scarce now, McKaigue retired, McEvoy might be off to Oz? McClsukey and McGrogan long term injuries

yes, a definite need to bolster this area. not too sure who you add? (good thing I'm not involved lol).

Derry Optimist

With the retirement of Chrissy McKaigue, the enforced absences, through long-term injuries of Conor McCluskey and Padraig McGrogan and  the possibility of Eoin McEvoy going to Australia, the Derry defence will be short of four definite starters. That leaves just three certain starting positions for 2024 regulars,Diarmuid Baker, Conor Doherty and Garth McKinless.
The big task for Paddy Tally and company is who to select in the other three positions. Presumably Shea Downey, Donncha Gilmore, Martin Bradley, Eunan Mulholland and Patrick McGurk will make strong bids for selection.

Were there any other defenders who made an impact in the Derry club championship this year? Are Oisin McWilliams and the Downey cousins nearing full fitness again and if so would they be considered good enough to join the new panel along with talented players like Niall O'Donnell, Oisin Doherty,Rory McGill and Ruairi Forbes?

THEALBION1878

you've named some talented players there however I still feel we require 1 0r 2 solid man markers to add to the panel. not sure if you would agree with me or not. hopefully someone on here watched the games and can name a few!
