Hard enough game to judge players on as Lavey played a very possession based game in the second half. R McGill made some great runs and looked dangerous on the ball. L Regan two or three great catches at midfield, some ropey short kickouts, which I guess you blame the keeper for but may actually be the outfield players not making runs. Did hit one good long kick which set up the goal in second half Probably disappointed letting in the goal at the end.
James McGurk and Jamie Dougan played well for Lavey, Tiarnan McHugh at full forward for Drumsurn was excellent when the ball went into him, I think it was Niall McNicholl at 11 impressed me with his general play.
Both teams probably need to tighten up at the back if they are to progress and or in Drumsurn's case avoid relegation.
As for the county panel, I hope management was in attendance and hopefully know more about a potential county player than me.

No preview for Championship in County Derry Post this week ? Wile disappointed. Haven't bought it in years to be fair, but they used to have a terrific build-up.

The new Derry gaels podcast and social media seem to be making an effort at giving the club game coverage so that's soemthing

Heard A Gunn say there will be streaming from round 2 onwards (end of August). We didn't get a streamed game last year until the Qtr Finals (end of Sept), so I suppose that's progress  8)

Ryan Scullion back in action it seems

Swatragh and Loup wasn't a bad game but probably low enough on quality bar Sean Kearney who thought was brilliant when they put ball in early to him.

Kilrea must be one of the most disappointing teams  in the championship, always look like building nicely in the league and the  championship just collapse. Slaughtneil looked sharp but still well off their best. Finn Mc Eldownney nearly looked like a free man for long periods.

Mc Evoy looked superb this evening against Screen, organising everything getting on loads of ball.

Brendan

Just over half the matches played we've Lavey, Loup, Steelstown, Slaughtneil and Magherafelt in the winners draw, and Drumsurn, Swatragh, Faughanvale, Kilrea and Ballinascreen in the losers draw

The amount of space Kilrea gave McGuigan, Rogers and Chrissy McKaigue was criminal

unbelievable, it was like and underage set up. When you see Chrissy striding forward 50 yards and stroking over a point without a tackle its probably time to make some changes. Don't even think he wanted to go forward but got offered that much space he had no option.Patsy at 41 still doing a job yet.

I completely agree with all of this. If only Patsy was 10 years younger he'd be ideal for the county midfield under the current rules.

Kilreas kick out was also a disaster throughout

Derry championship games used to be dour defensive set ups and we couldn't find new forwards. This year like gunfight at the OK corral. We bound to find somebody up front. That a ridiculous scoreline from Steelstown v Faughanvale. Nobody trying to defend at all?

quit yo jibbajabba

Mcmonagle put up some tally yesterday, as too did Sean Kearney no doubt as he fired in two goals and a two pointer for the bit I listened to

Steelstown Vale went to extra time was 1-17 to 3-11 at end of normal time. Cahir McMonagle very impressive in that match along with the Steelstown 14, first 2 games were brilliant but I couldn't sit any longer in that heat
