Was at our game v Mfelt this evening. Bizarre game were totally dominant in the first half 12-1 up after 25mins.

Mfelt rallied second half and were able to get level as Screen completely ran out of steam the last 10.

Time was up and both teams lost the ball twice each before Mfelt got it again and their player just booted it into the next field. Their supporters lost the plot it was mental but very funny.

I thought the refs approach to the 3 up rule was the right one. There were loads of breaches by both sides but he didn't bother looking back as it never interfered with play.

Called 4 times in the Kilrea game, players got well up each time.

By my reckoning, O Lynch, C McCluskey, D Gilmore, N O'Donnell, R McGill haven't kicked much ball. Anyone know if their injuries are long term or if they have a chance to play in the next couple of weeks?

I know N O donnell is definitely out for the season. Gilmore also the season I think. Unsure about the others but would be hoping to definitely have lynch back. Been so unlucky with injuries.

Hi Armagh are in the same boat but still grinding it out@

McGill has been playing for Lavey, don't know if he's still on the county panel

Seen D Cassidy playing for Bellaghy other night. Not sure why they put him in full forward. He not one. There was a time a Bellaghy team would scared the crap outta you, that's long gone.

Interstellar

Good news here is that both Donegal and Armagh will be exhausted and pick up injuries with extra time. The loser will find it hard to pick it up for the round robin against us.

Wildweasel74

Both teams look to have better forwards  and a stronger bench than we have.

So we basically have the same group as last year, we've just traded Westmeath for Dublin.

Unless we up our work rate considerably and really tighten up defensively we won't get anywhere near the top sides, extra time or not. Granted Armagh could be a bit flat coming into the game but we have to really up the tempo in a huge way.

Armagh away feels slightly more winnable than Donegal in Ballybofey. They have hammered us in our last two games though so will take a vast improvement from us to get anything from the game.

Armagh and Donegal have 2 of the best goalkeepers for kickouts in the country yet both faltered at different times under pressure today... we do not have a GK of that calibre and the pressure will be too much that I can't see us winning that battle.

Add to that the fitness/pace and tactical nous shown by both teams then we have problems because I don't think we're anywhere close on either of those fronts.

Wildweasel74

If Derry resort to man to man marking and not zonal and try sort out kickouts it be an improvement.I just don't think we got a range of scorers compared to the teams today. We too many forwards wouldn't take on a score and leave it to McGuigan who I feel been off it a fair bit compared to other years. Cassidy, Doherty,McFaul, Toner getting too much of a pass for not reigning in with consistent scores.Multi forwards were scoring there today especially when star forwards were been held.
