I heard it was Galway and Westmeath over the last few weeks to familiarise the lads with he new rules. Both good run outs, lots of new faces - a mix of youth & experience. Good to see as we approach Omagh.

Any names stand out?
What sort of sides did Galway and Westmeath put out and how did we do?

I heard Tohill and Higgins in midfield against Galway and we beat them by 2pts. Nothing at all apart from that.

Good run out today. Won handy. Used 25-30 players over the 2 halves. New rules make the game far better. Don't remember one short kick out.

Against who? Anyone stand out?

Squareball71

Against Cavan. Played under new rules. Very enjoyable. Virtually different team in first half to second half. Big Tohill played nearly all, if not all of the game at midfield. 1st half with Higgins, second half with Glass.
Wasn't a game for standing out, more of a chance to get used to the new rules. Won by 8 or 9 points but the result wasn't important. Shane, Rogers (number 6), the 2 Cassidys, CD, McFaul some of the more established players who played some part.
McGrogan number 2, Charlie Diamond, Jody McDermott, Patrick McGurk, some of the names got game time. I think young Magherafelt player. Played half forward for Magherafelt but can't mind his name played 2nd half. Not sure who the keeper was in the first half (Glenullin keeper maybe??)
Cavan mande more use of the 2 point arc than Derry for sure.

Squareball71

McEvoy at full back, Jack and Ethan Doherty, Gilmore, McCarron and McMonagle from Steelstown. Big Lynchy second half in goals, Niall Toner, Murphy. Remembering names as I go on.

Should they not be kept fresh?

Do they not have to get up to speed with the rules too? And get themselves, as part of a team setup for the NFL?

Plenty of time for that. They'd learn more by watching  game or 2 first.

Just played a AI club senior hurling semi-final a few weeks ago. Never got much of a break.

As if we don't know what the 2 of them bring.

Mad stuff.
