Quote from: Derry Optimist on January 08, 2026, 12:19:19 PMBy all accounts Derry played well last night with many of the debutants doing particularly well. However,we must remain grounded as there will be many more difficult days to come. Re who is or is not on the panel, I must keep repeating my annual complaint. I think that it is only fair to supporters that all County Senior management teams should release the names of their full squad in advance of the competitive season. I never remember any of our previous management teams doing this.

It is a pity because knowing which players are available is a simple marketing ploy to get supporters  interested in the team. Speaking of which, Donncha Gilmore and Cahir McMonagle are certainly worth their place in the squad. Maybe Donncha  will return when he is fully fit. Likewise Oisin McWilliams.  I have not heard any mention recently re Ruairi Forbes,Patrick McGurk, Danny McDermott, Caolan Devlin or Rory McGill. Presumably the first three  at least are on the 2026.

bit of a strange statement? Are you only interested in the team if your favourite players or your club players are selected?

Every county management will have their own ideas. That's why they are paid the big bucks to make these decisions

James Murray was mentioned here before and M'felt had a post up listing names involved and Odhran (Lynch) and James (assuming Murray) were listed.

I think Conall Higgins and  Eamon Young are involved as well

Real Talk

Any word on Cormac Murphy of Magherafelt. Also thought that Eoin McAvoy's brother played well in the Club Championship and played well during his Co Minor fays

It will be interesting to see if any Glenullin lads get looked at. The likes of Ryan McNicholl and the lad Rafferty have played well in the games that I have seen.

On a separate note I'm positive about the year ahead. I think Meenagh is someone the players will row in behind, he has their respect and with a good attitude to work hard and improve will stand us in good stead. If we can stay relatively injury free I think we can make good progress this year.
