New manager will be looking to the future. Them lads will all be 33 next year, they have achieved everything in game and have no more desire to play intercounty.

Blowitupref

Classy statement by Louth and Ger Brennan.

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

You'd have to think the Louth job would appeal to Oisin McConville, but Louth are an attractive proposition these days, they might have their sights set higher.

I still think there is bad blood between some members of Louth Gaa towards Crossmaglen Rangers, after the character references in the Garda Donohoe case. I vaguely remember Peter Fitzpatrick being quite vocal.

It's a wonder Louth didn't announce his next job.

Bit better than the one about Harte, who keft in the same circumstances.

Did he not leave last minute and had them convinced he was for staying? Brennans obviously been honest.

Fogarty

Is Brennan not jumping the gun thinking he has the Dublin job?
He is still not proven yet. He took over a county that was already going places because of Mickey Harte's input.

Won't make many ripples here.... Paul Shankey Waterford football manager steps down.
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

he decided not to take the option of a third year at the helm.

led the Déise to a notable Munster Championship win over Tipperary in 2024, ending the county's wait of 14 years for a victory in the province.

Dick Clerkin: It's my ambition to be Monaghan manager some day and win an All-Ireland.

Punditry is all well and good for now, but in time I will look forward to answering the call and hopefully serve my county from the front line, as opposed to the back pages.

And if I ever get the chance, I'll be doing everything I can to win the county's first All-Ireland title, if Gabriel Bannigan hasn't got us over the line before then.

For counties our size, chances like that don't come around too often. When we look around at our Ulster peers, it's hard not to feel we've let more than one opportunity slip over the years.
If that opportunity ever does come, I'll be looking to conjure up my own inner Ice Cube and find a few haters to nudge us up that proverbial mountain. Because the truth is, Monaghan haven't had enough of them, either from within or outside the county, to push us that extra mile.

Is he a bit of a David Brady?
Writing that kind of stuff in a national newspaper isn't a qualification for the county job.
Go out and get experience, and when the opportunity arises, go for it.
What's the point in writing that in the indo when the position isn't available?

Give him the job at the next opportunity.

Its disrecpectful to Bannigan. His first year as Monaghan manager, and after their best player retired in McManus. He done a solid job. Clerkin can be like a bull in a china shop at times.
