Who is this Slaygo team Peter Canavan keeps talking about  ;)

Regardless of pronunciations, 10 seconds of his analysis of modern defensive systems is much more interesting and insightful than the conjecture and opinion that's spouted as fact on RTE for the past 12 years...... 'puke football' year in, year out since 2003.

It was a shite game btw but at least the pundits try to take dress it up a bit instead of focusing on personal attacks and creating headlines

Alright, alright, settle yourself Hairy

Good solid showing against a poor enough Sligo team.

McCurry was excellent as was Bradley and Donnelly. Colm was good and solid as well, Sean was ok

Defence was strong as well against limited opposition admittedly. Except who was supposed to be marking Breheny? Was it Joe?

Never had Cavanagh as MOTM had to be McCurry for me

Going forward dont mind who we get but whoever it will be will be a massive increase in quality, there will be alot less space, better forwards so our performances will have to improve

Main Street

Fair fcks to Tyrone, they really can put it up to those div 3 teams. A div 3 killing machine.
Mickey could have stayed at home for that game, put his feet up and taken a well earned rest or perhaps a pilgrimage to Lough Derg, looking for a few morsels of optimism in advance of next week's steep challenge.

Final score anyone?

0.21 - 0.014 but was actually easier than that.

Actually thought McNabb played well, Bradley and Mattie D. Overall good performance but won't be enough next week. McCurry won't get that room next week for sure....

Relatively straightforward win for Tyrone and it could have been an even greater margin in the end.

Yep, could have been more but ticking along nicely at this stage!
That was never a square ball!!

From the Bunker

Tyrone seemed to be holding back today. There were a few  3 v 3, 3 v 2's etc where points were taken instead of goals. Tyrone seemed to be happy with double scores - scoring two for every one scored by Sligo. They held firm to this bar the last 10 minutes where Sligo tagged on a few points to make the score look more respectable. This probably was caused from the disruption of running the subs bench.

Holding back? They tried to bolt two goals late on. They weren't taking it easy.

I'd agree with you here but I don't think that they have the ability not to hold back if that makes sense. The new philosophy of late seems to be to control games, even at the cost of spurring chances to blitz the opposition.

I was at the game and the suggestion that Tyrone were "holding back" is absolute nonsense. Give Sligo some credit. Tyrone have great pace in attack and will trouble any team. I think they'll best Monaghan and who knows after that.

CD

Was at the game and just got back in the door. Tyrone definitely had another gear there! Three of Sligo's late points came from handling errors by Tyrone subs and the wrong player was on the end of the two goal chances. The game was really flat, a combination of the cavernous empty spaces and the fact that the teams were so unevenly matched. The Sligo goalie had a tough afternoon. He kicked long for the first 15 minutes and Sligo didn't win a single ball so then he was instructed to kick short and had trouble finding his man. Same scenario as the Mayo game.
McCurry did a lot of good things and some really poor things - Although he'll get the plaudits for eight points, most of them were kicked in acres of room and the beaut he scored came from a poor kick out!! Still a very positive performance and there's more to come from him. McAliskey was very quiet today.
Who's a bit of a moaning Michael tonight!

In hiding

Without wishing to be unfair to the man, I still cannot understand why aiden mc Crory is a regular starter and is never subbed. In my opinion he doesn't do nearly enough to merit a start. Even as an out and out defender he is a long way behind mc nabb, mc name and mc carron.
