Armagh and Dublin challenge game get a bit lively last week. And before a ball was even thrown in going by the story doing the rounds on social media  - see sportsjoe.ie

Sounds like a bad injury...how did he get injury? (I know it's too easy to say he got thumped but you just don't know how it happened)

What way did the game go anyone?

I am sick of Armagh players acting the **** before a ball is kicked, it is embarassing, stupid and they only have to go back to 2003 to realize it serves no purpose.

Teams are not going to be intimidated by tight Jerseys, handbags prior to the throw in or general acts of thuggery, they dont get mad, they just bate us!

no truer word spoke Stew. There is no advantage in it, just a massive opportunity for the player to look like a ballix.

People are commenting on an incident without having any credible details about what happened.

Yes but they are not commenting on the details - just general comments on how getting involved in these acts is bloody stupid

Found this on Twitter. https://beanbagsports.com/#post/18834 smells fishy to me.

Dublin footballer, Davy Byrne, is recovering having suffering serious facial injuries in a challenge match against Armagh last week.

It is understood that Byrne went to shake hands with his marker, who subsequently pulled Byrne's jersey over his head and landed several blows to the head.

Byrne is believed to have suffered a broken jaw, nose and fractured his eye socket.

He is expected to have no part to play in this Sunday's Leinster Final against Westmeath as a result.

This bears no resemblance to the report I heard.

But by all means carry on sticking the boot into your own players and management lads

What are the potential innocent explanations for these injuries? I'm stumped

Guys
Why don't you all find out what happened before kicking
It's take two to tango as they say

On the game hard hitting with an edge

that's why I said the easy thing to say was he got thumped but you don't know what really happened unless you were there...I now think teams are winding Armagh up looking for a reaction like this because we've been involved in a few situations over the years.
Anyway back to the game for Sunday...This is no doubt going to be our hardest game this season so far and nothing less than 100% effort will see us through this test. Galway would be on a similar level to Armagh and I think it'll be close, I just hope a bad refereeing decision does not decide it. I know people have said Galway don't travel too well and i'm hoping that's the case for Sunday.
Armagh 2-13 Galway 1-15

Okay...Everyone meets at 2:00pm on Sunday at Armagh City Hotel and we'll march to Athletic Grounds (the whole crowd) true Orange men style and show them that we Orange men take the Sabbath seriously and show them how it's done...Wouldn't that be some laugh and piss take (that would be all over the news)

it all sounds a bit iffy, but i am just saying in general all that malarkey of getting involved before a ball is kicked just tends to backfire. Remember the warm up v tyrone in 2003 ?

Love it, marching in Orangemen formation round the ring road.

It will also be our last chance to march this year. My prediction:

Armagh 0-13
Galway 2-17

I watched the Mayo game again, been at the game it can be hard to analyse properly and have now just realised how bad our own kickouts were, so many of Mayo's scores came from our own kickouts. We kept going long even though Mayo were winning the majority of them, we'd loose a kickout and because of the way we were setup Mayo found it far to easy to get scores. When Mayo attacked from their own half we were far better organised and they found it difficult. Chopping and changing the keeper is not helping, I'd like to think some serious work has gone into our own kickouts the last few weeks.

There was lots of positives to take and we are a better side than last year, we're more physical and more organised in open play. Mayo's goal was soft and they failed to create any more goal chances, compare that to the previous 2 meetings when we were carved open so easily and so often.

If we can play with the same pace and aggression as we did the last day and play with a bit more control I'm very confident we'll win. I'm expecting more from Lundy and Comer although Comer was excellent in the 1st half against Mayo, just needs to show a bit more composure on the ball when shooting.

I'm not sure how Armagh will set up tactically, with Comer at full forward they won't get caught the last day with the long ball, I'm sure they'll have an extra body back to deal with this. I do think Lundy's, Sice's and Cummins ability to beat players at pace will be important. In fairness we've got players all over the pitch who can take a man on and are comfortable with the ball, even both corner backs are well able to carry the ball.

2 teams lost in mediocrity. Beating Armagh was it 2 years ago was sweet.
Hard to know how good Galway are. Definitely not top 5 material.

Armagh lads would be best winding up Comer... Galway haven't been good on the road recently, but I am expecting them to win on Sunday.

Comer is self-winding.
If he comes out with the same attitude as he did the last day he won't get to half-time.
They'll probably put McKeever on him.
If you were any use you'd be playing.

Jeez I don't know some of the tight jerseys in the women's world cup intimidated me.

Exactly the attitude you want in a player. Won't be bullied. Won't back down. An absolute pain in the hole to mark I'd say. Would rather have more with his attitude than lads who would be afraid of their own reflection. And I've seen a few of those.
