It's the level for a stable result with no grumbling after. Brexit won with 51% and it was a mess.

Its also a percentage requirement that would be contrary to the GFA. The days of a unionist's vote being worth more than that of a nationalist, are over.

Don't get me wrong, I dont belive any SoS will call a referendum until a comfortable majority is clear, but if the result happens to be 50%+1 in favour of Irish Unity, then Irish Unity it is.

The Brits won't stand for 50+1. The North of Ireland is too fragile for that. It would be a field day for the UDA and friends.

Guys you are in cloud cuckoo land. If 51 % support a UI do you really think everyone will just wait another 20 -30 yrs for it to become more comfortable. As soon as it it looks on if the sos refuses to call it, it will quickly go through the courts

Rossfan

Can Courts enforce a vague thing like "if it appears to the SoS....."
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

What does a United Ireland mean at this point other than a nostalgia exercise and convenience.

Its entirely a materialistic argument.

Define "it looks on".

The Brits could  theoretically kick the  referendum can down the  road  as long as they want without any clear  rule as to when a  referendum should be called.

Could nationalist parties  take it to court  if a referendum is continually denied? And I'd imagine unionist parties could  take it to court if a referendum IS  called.

It means fixing a historic problem and giving people a better future.

You are disgraceful.

United Ireland discussion up there with Casement park. Great to talk about it but the numbers don't match to get a result.

Its entirely a materialistic argument.

If having roads closed to accommodate a sectarian organisation every summer. If blocking every idea put forward to help the "other side" seems normal. If blocking the development of a safe road (A5) because more of them than us will be killed by delaying it, is a materialistic argument. Then you are right. Otherwise the desire to become part of a country where your religious beliefs are not held against you is a valid argument.
Never underestimate the power of complaining

People are missing the woods for the trees, Ireland is a colony of American Empire and is being dissolved by the same.

If you are a nationalist living in the 6 counties, you would rather be a colony of the American Empire, than a servant of the British Empire.
