Why was that a free against McKernan and then why was it brought forward 50m?

Was never a free in the first place but it was brought forward more than the 50m for dissent

Honestly haven't seen it back but at the time it looked like McKernan just took the man out of it in the air with no attempt to go the ball at all. I don't like the dissent rule but it is what it is

Re. Friday evening games

In 2013 Carlow v Laois All-Ireland First Round Qualifier drew a crowd of 4,600 to Dr. Cullen Park on a Friday night.

It is feasible provided there is no long distance travel involved and players are not out of pocket.

What's peoples opinion on this? Would need to be 2 neighbouring counties.

Would players be happy?

Any rule not to play?

I'm sure Armagh vs Tyrone would have worked on Friday night there and got a big crowd in, obviously not feasible if it wasn't a neighbouring county. Only issue I would have is that club league games are Friday nights in Armagh, something players have asked for for years.

Getting ready for a championship match on a Friday evening including potential travel from, for example, Belfast or Dublin to the far end of the province, or a different province altogether, is obviously a logistical issue that can't be dismissed out of hand.

Lads it shouldn't be breaking news or that but Friday evening games shouldn't be an issue on an irregular basis for counties.

Sure they are often doing training camps during the week overseas, regular training camps at weekends with full days Friday.

There is big club championships matches across the country on midweek days never mind Friday. U20 games, Challenge games and preseason competitions on midweek days.

These things can be done and players get sorted. I'm not even sure half the country work after lunch on a Friday never mind getting a few hours off once a season for an intercounty game.

Last weekend the club games took place on Saturday evening because Armagh were playing on Sunday-club fixtures are easily moved, especially league games.

As for players asking for Friday night club games - I quite like Friday night club games myself, but they aren't a new phenomenon in Armagh, we've had a mix of Sunday afternoon and Friday night fixtures for as long as I can remember, and still do.

I wouldn't say it touched a nerve. Just seemed a bit of a daft thing to say when people are actually trying to debate the pros and cons of the issue.

I don't care if we don't have Friday night championship games personally, weekends work fine.  League games on a Friday night (such as the time Armagh hosted Down about 15 years ago) might be a better idea.
If it was restricted to one or two a week and aired on TV it would be interesting to see the viewing figures compared to attendance in person.

Personally I like championship games being played exclusively on the weekend.  Leaves me weekdays to focus on other things.  Plus it's unique in the 24/7 world we now live in.  Reminds me of how sporting events were originally scheduled, with all games played on Saturdays or holidays - certainly not Sundays! - with some communities having Wednesday afternoon games because it was a Half Day.

Personally I like championship games being played exclusively on the weekend.  Leaves me weekdays to focus on other things.  Plus it's unique in the 24/7 world we now live in.  Reminds me of how sporting events were originally scheduled, with all games played on Saturdays or holidays - certainly not Sundays! - with some communities having Wednesday afternoon games because it was a Half Day.

Think there's definitely a case to be made for them given the condensed championship now to give people a chance to see more games, theres so many games on now it's obviously hard to follow everything.
