Quote from: Square Ball on October 13, 2025, 10:24:57 PMSo, we are County minor Football champions for the first time 😁. Absolutely supberb performance from every single player. Not the hard bit faced by near every club, get these fellas playing senior. So close to the minor double as well.

So next stop St Paul's

Congrats to Bredagh. Should this not be happening more often though given your huge numbers? I'd be asking more why it's not happening regularly. Your senior team has never broken any delph.
Don't know where to begin. Two IFCs that's it recently. Need to stay in Div 1 next year and build from there. Our neighbours done it, and look at them

Indeed since 2006 a climb from Div 4-1, 2JFCs & 2IFCs. Hope now to kick on, bring the young lads through and start challenging in the senior ranks.  Club has grown massively from the 90s!

Who are we tipping for the 3 finals this weekend? All close games to call.

I'll go -

Kilcoo - I think they'll do enough to get over the line
Annaclone - hopefully we can carry the momentum over the line, won't be much in it though
Ardglass - I saw a bit of their game in the group and thought Ardglass were better but Kilclief have had a good run since

Back2Winning

Junior - Close call. Ardglass beaten 2 yrs ago and will use that as motivation to get the result.

Intermediate - 2 games in the semi will have taken it's toll on Annaclone, they will never stop trying but Saval come in fresher and have 2 point Pat as their ace.

Senior - There won't be a cow milked in Carryduff on Sunday evening!!

Splash

Hard to call between Kilclief and Ardglass. Ardglass probably a better side and took out East Belfast who I had personally fancied for the whole thing, but Kilclief were very impressive in their last few outings, and have scored some amount of goals this year en route to the final. Kilclief to do the double.

Have backed Annaclone from the start of the year, so will keep on backing them now, but as others have said, Saval will be fresher. Seems to be more hype around Annaclone than Saval which could potentially cause some problems. Saval probably know it themselves that they could well cut it as a senior team, particularly after watching the neighbours in Glenn and Drumgath the past few years, and will want to get back. Still think Annaclone will do it.

I do think Carryduff will be the team to eventually take down Kilcoo. I don't think it'll be this Sunday, though. Carryduff are very close but Kilcoo have whatever it is Kilcoo have. Been some shocks across Ulster this year, but Kilcoo will find a way as per I'd say.

Mourne Red

Junior - Ardglass
Intermediate - Saval
Senior - Carryduff (Kilcoos luck needs to run out sometime)

downtothecore

Junior.Ardglass
Intermediate. Saval
Senior. Can't call it. Kilcoo final experience maybe enough but Carryduff have looked impressive this year and well structured and kilcoo haven't...

Point-to-Point

When was the last time a team won their first senior football championship? It's been a long time since we had a 'new' champion.

According to a quick google search, Rostrevor in 1976, Loughinisland in 1975, and Burren in 1966.

Pitch inspection for Park Esler happening shortly, think weather is to possibly improve.

There's been a serious rain fall there the last day and pitch will be in some nick after games on Friday and Saturday.

Be some slog of a game if goes ahead.

Throw in pushed back to 5pm now.

What in holy f**k would possess any parent to get their child an air horn?

Unreal. Watching it on mute

befair

The horns should be confiscated; really spoil the atmosphere. And once again, teams with similar colours; both black shorts, Kilcco black jerseys, Carryduff dark purple.  No consideration for the elderly/visually impaired. And Guinness just passed the ball straight to Kilcoo, so obs affects players as well.
Carryduff lacking conviction with their shooting, a few hen-kicks into the keeper's hands. Still have a chance, but kilcoo in the driving seat

With you 100% Befair. Why any club / management thinks there's more to be gained from playing in first choice colours over distinct colours, i will never ever be able to grasp.

Duff looked like they were firmly getting on top. Then the penalty.

I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see them clawing this back now. Nobody in Down has clawed back 4 points on Kilcoo in a generation.

.

You need to get over that row. Loathe them or love them. For the first time this year they played their strongest 15 and were miles ahead of Carryduff who I fancied bigtime. If a club can wait until a final to show their hand they have bigger fish to fry.

Mournenan82

Just home from Newry. Must say I thought kilcoo were finally going to get dethroned but can't help but applaud them, a wonderful controlled performance and we probably don't appreciate how good they are in the county. Wishing them the best in Ulster
