Quote from: Targetman on June 03, 2025, 01:18:50 PMWhy was there so many empty seats in the stand when it was apparently sold out, looking across from the terrace the far right section was empty, it filled up when they let the crowd in at half time.

I presumed them seats where left for all the kids and their parents that played in the half time games.

As someone said above, those that didn't commit this year have only opened the door for the likes of Crimmons, McGeogh and others to step up to the plate.
Competition for places is great to see.

Think and hope you mean pay cheque !  ;D

Where would be the best place to find out the dates of upcoming coaching courses? I know one is on June 14th but can't make it so would be keen to see anything else coming up. I'm interested in the icgg ones (football or hurling).

They are usually in autumn or over the winter.
Clubs are notified about them & there will also be details on social media.

Or contact the games manager in the county board office.

IC, Inter County?

Inter county level training courses are run by the Ulster Council I believe, It used to be Kevin Kelly for the hurling, but I'm not sure now.

Any word on Daniel Guinness? Hardly fit for tomorrow?
Looking forward to it, hoping for a good performance.
A Down win would be massive for this group of Players. To go straight into a QF in 2 weeks time, what a boost that would give them and the county and to avoid Kerry and Armagh.

Looking fwd to it too but disappointed not to be able to go this week.

DG is named and I think he'll start on the basis that he v nearly thought he could the last day.

Topping the group would be some achievement definitely!

Gutsy performance from Down this afernoon in a game that had all the hallmarks of a game where both teams didn't really have much to lose. I imagine once the knockout games start next week we will see the scoring in games come right down. In the end it was the team that made the least mistakes in the last quarter that were able to get across the line. I'm of the opinion that the 3 man breach punishment rule is too severe but at the end of the day Down know the rules and it was they who broke them in an attack that probably would have seen us go back to 1 point behind which instead ended in us going 4 down which ended up being the difference. I feel we have to try and get more from the likes of James Guinness who seems to be hooked at half time too often for a player of his quality.

Down have every chance now in a home game agaisnt either Cork, Galway or Mayo/Cavan/Tyrone

Good performance from Down but just went against at the wrong time... we will learn from it...

How did the umpire miss the clear pick up of the ground for Monaghans  2nd goal

No there can be no repeats of previous championship ties, so if Donegal had of lost to Mayo we wouldn't have been able to play them either

Sheedy

Good performance from Down today unfortunately just came up short at the end. Thought ref was harsh enough on us a few times, missed an obvious touch on the ground for their goal and moved the ball forward 50 metres for a beggan 2 pointer in first half when the ball was knocked out of haverns hand as he was attempting to give it back. Odhran Murdock also got very little protection from the officials and seemed to have players hanging off him on every kick out.

In a game of small margins the breach of 3 back near the end proved costly giving Beggan an easy 2 pointer and put Monaghan 4 up (another stupid rule, a free on half way line would surfice for that).

Thought we played well for most of the match and on another day could've got a result. No need to fear whoever we get next week in Newry.
