Quote from: gallsman on March 22, 2026, 02:41:46 PMMichael Lyster. RIP to a legend.

A real pro of a presenter. Polished, good humoured and could manage the pundits. RIP.

Indeed, a real class act as a broadcaster. RIP.

Very sad news. Only 71.

I know he had health issues in recent years , and  survived a cardiac arrest about a decade ago.

Great presenter,  the voice and face of a  GAA generation.

RIP Michael

seafoid

A huge loss. A giant of sports broadcasting.  Ceol na n'aingil go gcloise sé.

An icon of GAA presenting. RIP Michael.

Puckoon

Fogarty

He once made disparaging comments about Wicklow that he had to apologise for, but otherwise he was a legendary broadcaster.

Capt Pat

He was a constant on rtes gaa coverage over the years. He had his struggles with heart issues over the years. He will be missed.

Milltown Row2

Thankfully he'd no Isreal interests...

Otherwise  ;)
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

"What's your  favourite humming noise?"

Another Ted  actor gone.

Shamrock Shore

One of the best cameos. I had to crash the car just to get me money back....

gallsman

No round envelopes for him!

You wouldn't even know he was from Galway when they played. Just really professional and never showed any bias.

Could not sum it up any better. A gentleman as you would expect in real life as well.

Maybe the reason he didn't show bias towards Galway, was because he was Waterford man  😋
