Quote from: Tony Baloney on February 04, 2026, 02:54:48 PMThat's sad to hear about John Virgo. Despite any limitations he had as a player, he was a great in the commentary box. Another generational voice gone.

Who will  be considered the voice of snooker now JV is gone?
In my time we've gone through Whispering Ted Lowe, Clive Everton and now JV. I couldn't abide Hendry when he was a player but I like him as a commentator and a contributor.

I don't really watch much snooker these days to comment on Hendry ,but would  Dennis  not be   the  main commentator now?

Quote from: gerrykeegan on February 04, 2026, 09:48:48 AMI do remember him playing but definitely remember him better for his commentary.  Where's the cueball going?

Watched a compilation on X today of him saying 'Where's the cue ball going'!

Loved me a bit of Big Break

Dennis would still be there but doesn't commentate on as many matches as he used to. With that lovely Coalisland twang they really should be giving him every match.

Or given the lifestyle of those boys 72 is a good result!

James Van Der Beek. RIP  Dawson in Dawsons Creek.

Really, really, really weird. Sitting laughing at Dawson's Creek coming on Catalan TV and the terrible dubbing, the wife mentioned about him being sick. Neither of us could remember the details so looked it up and his Wikipedia had literally just been updated.

RIP

Sad his widow is looking for financial support.

You would think a guy who was face of a major tv show would be comfortable enough. No doubt screwed by studios like so many others. RIP

Couple of years medical bills over there wouldn't be long cleaning out someone even with a few quid in the bank.
