Anyone heard of any call ups or trialists apart from Joey Clarke? All very hush or maybe the work starts now that club champ has finished

Quote from: Tyrone Dreamer on October 27, 2025, 07:59:11 AMWould like to see a good experimental team in the McKenna Cup with boys who haven't had much time previously. Based on this years club championship and Tyrone u20's in recent years I'd like to see something like this:

Darragh McAnenely
Conor Devlin
Shane Hughes
Steve Donaghy
Joey Clarke
Ronan Fox
Dalaigh Jones
Ruari McHugh
Oisin McCann
Cathal Donaghy
Conor O'Neill
Lorcan McGarrity
Michael Conroy
Paul Donaghy (unlikely to commit)
Ethan Jordan

Subs:
Callum Daly
Gavin Potter
James Quinn
Matthew Quinn
Cathoir Gallagher
Ronan Cassidy

Was impressed with the 2 Quinn lads from dungannon and potter has the lighting speed but prob work to be done physically

I really hope we take the opportunity to have a proper reset of the squad - and rebuild with some younger talent. I have to admit I was disappointed last year that we defaulted back to the '21 squad in the most part - relying on Mattie, Mickey O'N, Frank burns, Hampsey, Mccurry, Mcgeary, Harte etc. They're not getting any younger.

Whilst there were some positive signs from some of the younger players, we need to be using division 2 to blood a whole batch of new players - many of the names mentioned above.

I hear that we will have a new S&C coach which is a big positive.

Do you mean a new S&C coach or the return of an old one?

Yep, maybe return is a better way to put it. Flights home are booked as far as I know

Could Ronan Fox be an option at full back next year? I know he's playing a bit further out the pitch for Loughmacrory but did play a fair bit at full back underage for Tyrone.

He's definitely worth a look. I think we need to look at options there and plan for the future. Ben Hughes looked the part at underage, but am told he is ruled out long term
In my opinion our main deficiencies are at full back and full forward.
Need someone who can at least contain Clifford a little - he completely destroyed us league and championship last year.
Also need a full forward with size and athleticism. The combination of the two Canavans and McCurry just dont cut it at the highest level
Could Joe Oguz be repositioned as a full forward the way Cathal McShane was in 2019? Lorcan McGarrity deserves a good run in the full forward line as well

Could Aidan Clarke go right into full back?

We definitely have packed physicality in that full back line since McNamee retired. He was hugely underrated for me and I'd have had him ahead of Hampsey in that position.

I think League is probably better in the half back line and Hampseys best days might be behind us. Is Clarke physical enough for a full back at this level? Might be more suited to corner back I think. Conor Quinn and Nathan McCarron never really got much gane time there. Cormac Munroe probably missing height so there are not many standout options.

We will need to unearth someone for Clifford if we have serious ambitions about winning an AI soon.

Is McCaughey for Trillick worth looking at in McKenna Cup?
