Quote from: NotedObserver on Today at 10:10:41 AMConor ONeill for the last 15 mins a level above and think could come into wing forward for the seniors straight away. McCullagh a massive miss for Tyrone

Really? I can't say I noticed him having much impact on the game until the 61st minute. His 2 big plays in injury time were impressive and the winning of the game but I think for his level of experience and ability he should have been doing more throughout the game. Thought his midfield partner Donaghy was quietly effective. Its hard to know what O'Neills best position will be. He done very well at 6 for QUB in the Sigerson and we are crying out for someone there.

. He has good feet and an eye for goal so as long as he can get forward from there as well. Was at the McKenna cup game v Armagh and his size and coolness on the ball was impressive for a debut

Yeah I like him he has a bit of class about him.

Conor Devlin too has a bit of toughness about him. He'd make a good corner back for seniors like his Da.

after winning the recent u20 all irelands we wanted Ruairi Canavan, Michael McGleenan, Michael Rafferty and Shea O'Hare to name a few starting for the seniors instantly. I dont think its as clear cut to say a brilliant u20 player at 19 or 20 years old is ready to start or even play for the senior team. It takes time. Even DC took a few years to get up to speed and show at that level. Our better players against Armagh - Conn & McKernan are both 28/29. They won the All Ireland when they were 23/24 so I do think it takes that 2-3 years of training, learning, and conditioning after u20. McElholm is absolutely unreal, unmarkable at u20 level last year, and even he is finding the going tough this year. But itll come

Would agree. The only reason I would think Oneill could get game time in wing positions as we are struggling there a bit at the moment

If 2 division 3 teams reach their provincial finals, we won't even be in the Sam Maguire.

This might happen in Munster but won't be close to happening in the other 3 provences

I don't necessarily agree. Physically O'Neill is more prepared that Ruairi, O'Hare or Rafferty where/ are. This is his third year at midfield for the U20s. He's the same age as Finnbarr Roarty who's established himself for Donegal. We aren't winning the All Ireland this year - we don't have much to lose.

He's played senior already earlier this year and looked more comfortable in the games he did get than most of the other young players thrown in. His performances for Queens in the Sigerson were exceptional. I'd have no hesitation in giving him an extended run.

I wouldn't say that for all the younger players but I think you can make exceptions
