Quote from: TyroneTam on April 04, 2026, 09:00:33 PMI was at it and we got back into it with 2 free kick two pointers as the clock ticked into the 70th minute. Dont know who hit them as he was a sub and no panel named online. Fair play to him as I'm pretty certain they were the only 2 pointers all game.

We then had a brain fart pushing for the winner giving away a blatant breach for a tap over winner from Monaghan.

Conditions were atrocious and this significantly effected the quality of football played. Id be pretty confident we'd take that Monaghan team when the fields harden and quicken over the coming weeks.
Conan Canavan Errigal Ciaran. He would have started for the St Ciarans school team that won the All Ireland competition

Not sure on many places and naming this time doesn't fill you with confidence due to recent performances

Mcelholm should be nailing down a place soon. Does show glimpses but adjusting to senior intercounty

McCurry or Jordan?

Seanie O'Donnell has been pretty poor recently but seems to be a starter.

Mckernan confidence is low but hopefully break has helped.

Can mcgeary come straight back in?

I would have McElholm on from start in corner.l think he was pushed in too early and too much expected but in corner can do a good job abd mebbe move more into half fwd in 2nd half. Seanie O'D great honest worker but small and the everlasting 2 big men problem remains unsolved still.

2 big men problem of course requires talent as well as size

Kennedy the scapegoat when he's tripled marked and still trying to drop ball on him haha

Kennedy the target for majority of our kickouts and is often the man going up for the ball and scrambling on the ground for breaking ball. Something not right there!

We will and have been bringing Teague and Donnelly out to the middle for the kick outs but both not tall but have a bit of weight and aggression

cjx

Teague is a marker not a kickout catcher and great at shepparding dangermen like he did to Sean O 'Shea in AI semi last ( no score v 12pt v Armagh). But  what is needed most of is strength and conditioning mental as well as physical which come from clear plans for today's game including most importantly 2 pointer plans. (7 wides from 2pt efforts against Cork in 1st half with wind, failure to counter 2pt shots by Louth and mess against 14 Kildare men) Like it or leave 2 pointers have undue impact now.
[l favour a 4pt goal to rebalance this but that is a different argument]

Outsider looking in here but dont think you can start both Canavan's, Jordan and McElholm in the one team and can probably only start 2 of them imo. Teams will run through you.

Agree totally with this. Far too open and not enough ball winners - that's been a problem throughout the league. Two of the players above (id include Cassidy in the list as well despite them trying him in half forward/half back lines)  with Donnelly in full forward line and 3 workers in half forward line needed.

All true but this just brings us back to the 2 big men problem. Who are the strong workers? I do not think McDonnell is good enough for the role so who are these 2 big men? I do think Jorden is stronger than he is given credit for. Still this is also back to the strength and conditioning thing (and thus Peter Donnelly). Only Mattie Donnelly fits the profile here now Peter Harte is gone. Or is he?
