Grace Murphy

He's calling himself middle class here? Would he be? What is his family background. I don't even really get what he means!

Hand of God

I think it's just best ignored tbh.

Great player but seems very fond of his own voice and opinions. There's lots of things wrong with the GAA but I don't think social class is one of them. It's a amateur sport where people devote their spare time to do something they obviously enjoy or are motivated to do, like every other amateur club. Obviously the higher level you climb in that sport, the more supports that are in place for you.

I've played matches across GAA and association football in my life where you played on death trap pitches, had no changing or showering facilities, no travel expenses etc. Wasn't ideal but I enjoyed playing so you suck it up like all your teammates did as well.

I don't get the 'white' bit either. I remember a 'supporter' gave the Wexford hurler Lee Chin racist abuse and by fuc he got called out for it big time. He did ring later and apologise.
I'd hope racism be called out anywhere in the GAA. There aren't that many non-whites playing but I don't know in any systematic way that they aren't welcome. Myler seems desperate to lead a campaign where there is none needed.

Yeah, seems to be keen for the limelight. Trying to create a PR role for himself maybe? What's the chances he'll be doing analysis on tv later on in the summer?

Create a story that's not there. Would the Irish News contact him or would he contact the Irish News?

I'd love to be able to come on and defend him, loved him as a player, but I just cant
I see he responded to Kenny Archer on twitter, calling it lazy journalism. But Frankly he got his ass handed to him in their return.
He got plenty stick in the comments, mostly deserved
Hopefully the lad learns from this, talks a lot less, and it'll be forgotten about soon enough.

Can't say I'm keen to hear that podcast. I can't see where "white male middle class privilege" in the GAA can be taken out of context... where is the podcast? Maybe shud listen to give him a chance...

Did he? That's not my take on it and the thread under where Kenny Archer replied is fairly scathing of his journalism.

I read the actual quotes that were sent to The IN and they definitely twisted what he said and went for a click bait headline. Cheap.

Reading the press release, there is no real story there in my opinion.

Having now listened to the Podcast its hard to see how Myler wasn't talking about the GAA, he goes on about Gaelic games directly after the white middle class nonsense. He's digging this hole deeper imo

Hand of God

The Irish News have 10 names listed as new additions from last years panel. Conor O'Neill is one but pretty sure he had been added at back end of last year.

5 from last years u20 panel:

Ben Hughes
Conor O'Neill
Callum Daly
Ruairi McCullagh
Joey Clarke

Michael Conroy
Oisin McCann
Mattie Og McGleenan
Ethan Jordan
Oisin Gormley

Hopefully that's not the full list. Both O'Neill and McCullagh are still u20 this season and it will probably take the younger guys longer to get up to speed. Thought there would be more players in the early 20s to mid 20s looked at who are probably more ready at the minute.

It might not be an exhaustive list of new additions this year. Would have like Dalaigh Jones and Conor Cush to get looked at again this year.

What's the thoughts on the older 5? Like the look of them all at times.

Brocagh had a signed Tyrone jersey up for raffle last week and seen Peter McCaughey Shane Hughes and Dalaigh Jones names on it as well as the ones mentioned. Could be carrying a few extra for the McKenna Cup and then doing a squad cut for the league.
