Quote from: Wildweasel74 on February 23, 2025, 07:08:05 PMAsk the simple question, are the players there. Take out the 2 Canavans, what left up front?

I struggle to think of many other counties that have a set of inside forwards like Bradley, McShane, McCurry, Canavan x2 and McElholm?

Obviously all in varying form, but they've shown it in the past or have big potential.

Clifford is arguably the only inside forward who is definitely above Darragh C.

Clifford, Sean O'Shea, Conn O'Callaghan, Shane Walsh, Rian O'Neill, Oisin Gallen, Shane McGuigan.
Would any of the top teams swap their marquee forward for Darragh, I don't think they would.
Mayo are the only top team who haven't a forward as good or better than Darragh Canavan.
You could do this with any of our forwards - McCurry/McBrearty McElholm/Murray Bradley/Basquel McShane/Murnin Ruairi Canavan/Finnerty.
We haven't got an elite forward line when we compare with the other Division 1 teams.

Why are you comparing individual Tyrone forwards against a selection of inside forwards

You are so f**king deluded  ;D

Bradley has never done anything of note in a Tyrone Jersey despite numerous chances

McShane had 1 decent season. Decent is all it was.

McCurry decent on his day

D Cav very good

R Cav has done nothing of note in a Tyrone Jersey

McElholm - all this talk and has been poor on each game to date

McShane in his "decent all it was" season was top scorer in 2019 and an all star in FF, a year after playing midfield in an all Ireland final. The same McShane who then came back from serious injury to score goals in the all Ireland semi and the final in 2021. Not bad
McCurry decent on his day 😂😂😂
Judging mcelhom on what? About 100 minutes of adult football?

from other counties?

I'm comparing the inside forwards as a set, you should compare against other counties' sets of inside forwards.

Some people just love to whine and run down players and teams.

McShane only really had one good season in a Tyrone jersey, but it was an exceptional season. I sincerely doubt we'll see him hit anywhere near those heights again, but that and his form since 2019, doesn't change how good he was then.

Let's be honest, he got a massive package to stay based off 1 season and its about time he lived up to it. Needs to hit proper form and justify it.

We are so far off with S&C. This is not ok the current regime and I am sure it is something they are looking at.

It is the conditioning where light young Tyrone are losing out. Kerry dominated kickouts and as Ethan Rafferty said there you have to let it go and its up to your men up the field to win it.
Tyrone's wee men are not cutting it in those circumstances. Maybe Oguz as 11 might help but need the strong support running Armagh had tonight.

Either too young or losing it. Kennedy and Mckernan are the level of conditioning required. Oguz shud will game time to help with kick outs as the options are slim. Donaghy looks tidy player but again way too light to deal with top midfielders

I'm not the biggest fan of mcshane but without his impact off the bench in 2021 Tyrone wouldn't have won the all Ireland. There's no doubt 2019 was his stand out year but on his day he's unbelievable. I wouldn't have him in the starting 15 but a great option from the bench.

Tyrone gift a 2 point free to Galway in the last 5 seconds. Draw the game

tyrone08

Not sure how they managed to throw away that game. Inconsistencies still a big issue with tyrone

Seems ref. was to blame? RTE reported ref. blew a free b4 the Galway mentor MENTOR pointed out the 2 up foul. Only then did ref point to a Galway free. The original free appeared to be for a foul on McKiernan.
That is twice for Tyrone remove that stupid rule of not keeping 3 up/ back after a black card. It was pivoital re. Kerry with Tyrone playing 13 v 15 and no advantage to them.

But Tyrone mentors should not have let Teague on til had 3 up. That is for O'Rourke to address with Porter whose role that was. Mind you Harte's very savable height peno shot was surpizingly bad from him. But a much improved performance from Tyrone. However Donegal up next in that pit of hell Ballybofey a hard one to need points from.

At this stage I'm sick of listening to O'Rourke complaining about the new rules after every game.
He was on the FRC committee and had his chance to have his say.
Very few other coaches or players (bar Murphy) had the chance to influence the rules to the extent he had. He got what he voted for.

I have a concern around orourke in that he helped set up the rules and I thought his insight would benefit tyrone however this hasn't really happened. Also I assumed that
Tyrone would get a new manager bounce even if short term but again this didn't happen

NotedObserver

Any at the game give any player/performance reviews?

New manager bounce! That's a new one on me! Like David Moyes?
I'd put very little stock in the league, some best players missing for first few games. If we avoid relegation that do rightly.

I agree with your points but the Donegal game is actually in Letterkenny I believe. I hope the different venue might be a welcome change for us.
That was never a square ball!!

Could be worse:
Hurling: Down 9-26 Tyrone 0-13
Ladies Football: Waterford 6-15 Tyrone 0-6
