Tyrone attacking play and shooting could only be described as pathetic

NotedObserver

Has been for 3 years. Physically many of the players not at the level and some of them have been on the panel a few years. In bad need of a focal point in attack but that will only be Darragh Canavan as McShane and Donnelly not it.

Kennedy a one man middle 8 for kick outs. Serious work to do

No improvement at all from Tyrone. Very early days with the new management but hard to see what they are trying to achieve or what they are doing differently

Honestly not having a go but what do you see what any team is trying to achieve. In my opinion they all try to provide width and then try to play through or around the defenders.
How many 2 pointers did we score ?
Is that the management's fault.
Sometimes we just need to admit that maybe we don't have enough top quality players on the panel

Transition and next year under 20 will bring more young players in. Going to take a while

For me I would like to have seen some sort of game plan. For example either sit around the 40 meter arch and have runners coming off the shoulder to create scores or to work the ball quickly up the field to the forwards.

At the minute it's the same plays for last 3 years. Very slowly work the ball up the field then either do nothing with it or lose possession.

Clearly we haven't worked on taking long range 2 pointers. With a main man in charge who helped create the rules i thought that would have given us some sort of edge. Doesnt appear so at the mintue.

However I do appreciate it will take at least a year to see what he brings to the table. I was initially hoping for some sort term lift but hasn't really appeared yet.

I haven't saw much of Tyrone but in the Armagh game they struggled with lack of size around the middle outside of Kennedy and got hammered on own kickouts. I would have thought there would have been some work done on working shorter kickouts but not sure if that is the case.  They will get a big lift when Errigal contingent comeback Darragh Canavan especially should make hay with these new rules.

Went down to Mayo today. Thing that stood out for me is we don't have any discernable plan to work scores. No early ball to the forwards, no coordination to our line breakers with support off the shoulder and zero threat from long range shooters.

The worry is unless we get consistent wonder scores from the Canavans or the odd big day from McCurry we don't look close to the top 4-6 teams.

I'm sure it came across on TV today but Mayo are not a good team. Any other div 1 team would have trounced them today, I bet they can't believe their luck coming out with the win.

On the plus side we'll be a much more cohesive unit when we get the Errigal lads back and the likes of Hampsey. Ultimately, it'll take time for the u20s to blend in and Malachy to make his mark.

Kerry are not the team they were on last nights evidence so it's all to play for next week.

Will the Errigal lads be back? They're badly needed.

You wouldn't know there's a new management in place. It's the players.

Funny, I saw something different today. I thought we were more direct than Mayo, especially in the first half, with much more kick-passing. Unfortunately, we weren't able to do much with it. Bradley was secure but couldn't find space to beat his man, nor did he have someone running off him. Our kicking was poor though and you could see McCurry and McElholm angry at themselves.

Mayo's tactics were totally baffling.
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

omagh_gael

We were more direct than Mayo but that wouldnt have been hard. Mayo were horrendous today and still managed to beat us. I think the 2 pointer system is going to be a killer for us, we just don't have a team that's full of long range kickers. Even from 30 yards we must have dropped short/shot wide at least 10 efforts over the 70 mins.

That will improve and hopefully as the canavans return, the ground firms up and weather improves we'll increase our inefficiency.

Mayo were awful today and it's a very very poor reflection on us that we were worse.

Really fear for how we fare for the rest of the league. MOR looks a bit out of his depth, same old team playing the same tactics of the last 4 years. Thought he would've added a spark or change to Tyrone's play but in reality only Morgan and Kennedy produce top quality moments for us.

McElholm and O'Hare have been particularly disappointing. Look so lightweight and ineffective.

The worrying thing is probably how dependent we are on the Canavans to pull out 9 outa 10 performances every game they play.  Even a lot on here seem to think once Darragh comes back everything will be alright. That's a huge amount of pressure to be heaping on him,  and he's going to be the centre of attention for all opposition. Last 2 performances have been worrying from Tyrone and it's unfair on the Canavans to try and solve all the issues.

I think that's really harsh. You could have named 10 or 11 lads who were disappointing today.
I think both lads you have mentioned have massive potential

That's madness. Someone, 3 games in, and with a track record as a winner, is hardly out of his depth.
I thought those two you mentioned have actually shown glimpses of something that could be described as exciting.
Ruairi and Darragh hardly tore up matches when they arrived on the scene.
Unfortunately, we live in times with little patience.
