The big question remains though how much do we need to pay him and are the CB willing to finally break protocol and do that. Presume once it's done then that's it forever.

What is the process now or what will be happening tomorrow night? Do they clubs have to vote on those nominated candidates?
Maybe just get Club Tyrone to pay him, could be a way around it

Are we really suggesting Mickey Harte didn't receive payment? Recent county hurling managers?.. from whatever source 🤷
Speaking at tribute night honouring the late Frank Rodgers at the weekend, Martin Sludden thanked Feargal and Brian again and re-emphasised Tyrone's policy of not paying a manager. They didn't take a rex.
However going forward, I'm sure there's ways and means around these things. Coaching fees? Club Tyrone? A generous sponsor?

I would find it absolutely astounding if MoR allowed his name to go forward without knowing exactly what the Tyrone Co Board were going to offer (or not) in terms of support.

I would equally find it astouding if the TCB did not know what and who MoR wanted in place as part of his coaching set up, including any expenses (or not).

Maybe MoR doesn't want any payment. Maybe he does.

Maybe the TCB don't want to pay anyone. Maybe they do.

Maybe the TCB only wnat a manager born and reared in Tyrone, maybe they just want best person for the job.

Whatever the situation I'd be really surprised if both parties didn't know the other's position before now and, while I've certainly been wrong before,  for a job like this I don't think there would be much left to chance by the time nominations come round.

Good post: however I'm not sure the 'born' in Tyrone bit. How much of a thoroughbred do you need to be? Previous Tyrone manager John Donnelly played for Fermanagh as well (not sure where he was born)... Don't see any issue O'Rourke, living in Tyrone over 33 years and played for and managed Errigal.

Be sure the train has left the station albeit crawling for now... expect to see a few hands back.

My point was maybe they only want someone born in Tyrone or maybe they are  happy with getting the best person for the job, no matter where they are born or live......

To me MoR seems to be one of the best managers available AND has sufficient Tyrone credentials, given his time lving in the County and the Errigal connections

Niall Gartland reports that TCB expect to appoint new manager next week

"Speaking at an official engagement last Saturday evening, Tyrone Chairperson Martin Sludden said that the County Committee 'hope to be in a position to announce a new manager' next Tuesday evening (September 10)"

I read this like a Baz Luhrmann song

Are you able to see who each club voted for or is all that kept private?

Perhaps delegates will know if the ballot is by hand, don't expect the CB to publish who voted for who

Niall Morgan going all out saying he wants to see MOR appointed

square_ball

Niall Gartland confirming MOR has the job.

Truthsayer

That's huge endorsement from Morgan. Niall Gartland is indicating that O'Rourke is very firm favourite for it. He certainly hasn't got the job yet..

square_ball

I'm not sure if Niall Gartland would tweet that out just now if it wasn't the case. Gartland seems reliable for all Tyrone related news. Seemingly MOR is the only nomination for the job according to the BBC.

Strong endorsement from Morgan is right though. Probably see himself as only having a few years left and wants every chance to get medal no.2

I think this appointment will put us right back in the mix. It will be interesting to see the make up of the backroom team.

Ok I thought Devlin was proposed as well. Aye Malachy looks a cert and Morgan has probably nailed it on now... but he hasn't officially got it... not ratified I mean.
