I think Tyrone have to be more than satisfied with how this season has gone so far.. A league final is a huge bonus.

Dublin look very strong this year and are playing with purpose and no little flair, racking up some serious scores.  They also look to have a decent full back line who can defend and launch attacks, as was witnessed on Sunday.

Tyrone however will not be going to Croker in fear.  Although they beat a Dublin team that had a few new faces, they were still good enough to line out for Dublin, and we just sneaked the win....

At least Harte has another game to decide on his championship line out, but with a couple of rounds of club football coming up this will no doubt change due to the inevitable injuries that will be picked up.

Dublin to win, pulling clear with 10 mins to go....

Andrews or Connolly better options at chf right now as young kilkenny takes too many wrong options and he wont be given the same latitude in championship than he was in the league.
I'd not start him but bring him on and imo this would be far better for his development and impact upon team performance right now.
maybe he will progress quickly and earn a starting spot in time for all Ireland semi final...but give him a chance

alan brogan is no longer a starter either. another good man to be able to bring on.

While I agree that there is merit in the argument that Kilkenny is rated more on potential than what he's actually achieved at senior intercounty level (albeit 3 points from play by a 19 year old in an All Ireland semi-final when many of those around him were having off days was a decent introduction), its equally early to be stating he "takes too many wrong options" given he only played two league games, both of which his team won, and in one of which he scored four points from play.
It is most def never to early to judge a guy on the games he has played when he has made wrong decisions in them-no matter how much he has scored, if his errors have coughed up the ball to the opposition or he has kicked silly wides etc.
I'm not sure how you arrive at that logic to be honest!
Yes I'm biased, but paddy Andrews a far bigger jewel to unearth for Dublin alon with Mannion and whelan so far this season.
Kilkenny will hopefully come good- later this year or in future seasons, but that isn't right now.

For someone who's making all those supposed errors yet still scored 3 points and 4 points in two of his last 3 games for the Dubs, I took look forward to the day when he starts to "come good".

Saying Whelan is a bigger jewel to unearth than Kilkenny is extraorindary, but we all have our opinions!

Lynchbhoy, when it comes to Dublin v Tyrone, you're throwing your shoulder behind the Dubs and showing your backside to the cavemen?

Syferus

Up the Dubs. Was impressed how well they took their batin' to Mayo last September, some great craic on the way back to Heuston on the Luas, the same went for the 'Mun supporters after Paddy's Day.

Still think they'll probably come unstuck some time before the third Sunday of September, though. I don't think that day will be this game.

Rossfan

Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

Wildweasel74

Funny enough i dont expect Dublin to come a cropper this yr in the championship, possibile until and if they run into Kerry. Got a big panel, and now have players to come in if they pick up injuries

What odds this will be the first classic between the two biggest heavyweights in the modern game and they will meet in September. Behold the top2 teams in modern Gaelic games
Lets make it a feast of football a lesson to the bridesmaids.

For what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world & loses his soul.

Must remember to type with the aged and ignorant in mind. No text talk. Yeeeee haaaaaa.

I have a good feeling about this year for the Dubs a real good feeling. JG is the main man, having known his coaching first hand, I reccon he is the one to make us the top team to be beaten, a new heffo if u like.

How was that oulfellas??

Well it should be a great year and this Dublin team are certainly great to watch so I expect to see some cracking games this summer. Whether Dublin dominate over the coming years will be interesting to see but they'll certainly be genuine AI contenders for the foreseeable future and hopefully they'll keep the high tempo attacking football approach.

Fuzzman

It speaks volumes for the state of our game that we have so many 'neutrals' wanting the Dubs to do well for the year ahead. People who often in the past would have liked to see anyone but Dublin do well (well maybe not Kerry).

I must admit I too would be glad to see football take a step in the right direction and move away from the more defensive focus. I suppose Gavin believes that maybe for the first time in years Dublin have the raw talent to build an attack minded team that can go out and play to outscore their opponents.
Whilst I was glad to see Donegal win only their second AI, I really would hate to see the game progress down that style of a game. I know Tyrone have had a big role to play in that with their swarm defence back in 2003 but we've also put up massive scores back in those years and also this year in the league we've often scored 1.15 or more.

I think this could be a very open, high scoring entertaining match and it will be particular interesting to see how Dublin deal with Stevie O'Neill now after the media attention after the display v Kildare.
I would expect Tyrone to probably still play a sweeper in around the half back line like they've done for most of the season.
I expect us to struggle to contain Mannion and Brogan this time out as the last time we struggled to mark McManamon & Andrews. I'd like to see PJ stay in there again.

Whilst I'm looking forward to this game I have to say we could end up getting a bit of a trimming and now sure how that would affect confidence going into the Donegal game.
Was it 1992 was our first league final and then 2003 our next?
Is it a 10 year plan we've signed up to?
