No contact? Thought he caught him on the jaw with his shoulder?

Not a chance. No contact to the head whatsoever, though there was intent to do so. Both the raised elbow and the dive are things we could do without in football.

I'd give Cribben the benefit of the doubt, went in to shoulder Gormley who was crouching a bit and the elbow came out as a reaction to the expected shoulder contact not being made. Disgraceful, pathetic dive by a man who styles himself as a hard man enforcer.

There was definite contact. From what I remember it was shown from a different angle at the end of the program (I've been trying to get the show on player but won't let me log in but have it recorded at home so will check it out tonight) and there was clear contact.
The top of Cribben's shoulder def catches him on the jaw.
I'd agree that there was definite cynical intent and contact, I'd have no doubt in that incident.
But seeing how those Tyrone players hit the floor in apparent agony with minimum contact being made, it's more a case of the boy who cried wolf.

Andrews or Connolly better options at chf right now as young kilkenny takes too many wrong options and he wont be given the same latitude in championship than he was in the league.
I'd not start him but bring him on and imo this would be far better for his development and impact upon team performance right now.
maybe he will progress quickly and earn a starting spot in time for all Ireland semi final...but give him a chance

alan brogan is no longer a starter either. another good man to be able to bring on.

While I agree that there is merit in the argument that Kilkenny is rated more on potential than what he's actually achieved at senior intercounty level (albeit 3 points from play by a 19 year old in an All Ireland semi-final when many of those around him were having off days was a decent introduction), its equally early to be stating he "takes too many wrong options" given he only played two league games, both of which his team won, and in one of which he scored four points from play.

I'd love it if we beat them, I'd just love it.

you can have it. We're more interested in the latter stages of August/September

Getting the excuses in early!! I know teams set out to win the All Ireland at the start of the year but I've no doubt once they're in the league final they want to it. Especially when it's been 20 years since the last success. Dublin also will be keen to get a big performance against one of the top teams as competition in Leinster has often been limited in recent years. They will also have the incentive of turning over the earlier league result and with such a strong squad everyone will be pushing for places. So whether you think it or not I've no doubt Dublin will be going all out to win.

Considering Tyrone beat Dublin earlier in the league 3/1 is a pretty generous price. Dublin were missing players that night but if the strength of the squad is to be believed the players coming in should only make a marginal difference.

I'm not so sure. Dublin missed five very kickable frees that night with Connolly scuttling 45's along the deck.

Leave everyone else who was missing out and bring in Cluxton and thats that sorted.

Dublin want to win the league final. They are taking their preparations seriously. It won't make or break either teams season but neither will they turn their nose up at winning the first competition of the season.

You mean Cluxton for the 45's problem?

How did Shane Supple do in goals?

Jell 0 Biafra

Indiana is playing things down, but we want to win this one.

Obviously Sam is more important, but finals--including league finals-- are there to be won.

Also wouldn't like to lose twice to Tyrone in the one season.  If we meet them later this summer or next, you don't want a team getting the idea they have you before they take the pitch.

Yes to the first part - obviously Brogan & Mannion were also rested/not selected but Cluxton on the pitch means a Dublin win last month.

He did fine, but he's no Cluxton. No other keeper comes near him though.

Declan

Did I hear correctly that Alan had a setback with his injury and that a similar injury might also be affecting Bernard??

Unless it happened yesterday, it's not true afaik.

Was speaking to a member of the backroom team at the weekend and all was fine. Giving him plenty of time to recover and aiming to have him 100% for mid-summer.

Defo not true about Brogan - he's playing the next two weekends.

Bernard was definitely hobbling a bit towards the end of the Mayo match, but presumably it was only something minor. I think he may have a mindset that he never expects to be 100% fit and he that he can play fine with little niggles

Good stuff - Those Plunkett boys will tell me anything to try to keep them for the club championship ;) ;)
