€10 is over the top for an O'Byrne Cup game. Hope this isn't setting a precedent for the league and championship.

I generally don't pay into O'Byrne Cup games but if I did the price has always been €10 for at least last five years..

Onlooker

Usually 5 euro for the McGrath Cup games.  Not too sure about the Final.

Same price into the Mckenna Cup games, dunno about FBD and the McGrath cup.

€10 for FBD.
Someone has to pay Mr Prenty's wages  8)
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

I paid a tenner into Sligo game. Scandless for heaps of reasons. GAA need to catch a grip

Meath (O'Byrne Cup v Louth) -
Paddy O'Rourke;

David Dalton, Caoimhín King, Sean Curran;
Cormac Rowe, Eoghan Harrington, Stephen Crosby;

Conor Gillespie, Joe Sheridan;

Mark Collins, Damien Carroll, Darragh McNamara;
Dalton McDonagh, Peadar Byrne, Brian Sheridan.

Good line up, interesting to see what Brian Sheridan can do. He's a great free taker as far I know but what can he do from play i have yet to see.
It won't be the next manager but the one after that Meath will become competitive again - MO'D 2016

Interesting at least. I've always thought Caoimhín deserved a good trial at full back. But Joe as a midfielder? I don't get it. He's a good passer and intelligent reader of the game, but (maybe I do him an injustice) I don't see him having the end-to-end mobility required of a championship level midfielder.

Likewise, I don't see Peadar Byrne as a full forward. In his case, mobility is his big asset and he's as good as most in the country at playing the link role.

However, experimenting is what this competition is for and it's also good to see a lot of lads getting their chance.

Another game clearly not travelled to last night laoislad

Westmeath will take more from that game than Laois. As they said on Midlands 103 it was a makeshift Westmeath team out against a strong enough Laois team. Good to see Kevin Maguire back and David McCormack did well up front, a few balls didn't stick but an encouraging display all the same. Phillip Sheridan probably had his best display in a Westmeath jersey and defensively we were solid enough until we started to wane in the second half. Strength and conditioning wise we were in the shadow of a Laois team in their third (or is it fourth) year under McNulty but we made up for it with no shortage of heart. Jason Lynch a prime example. Has the look of a man you could blow over but he has that great corner back nack of emerging with the ball from a tussel with a man nearly twice his size.

Clancy scored 2-3 and you would think he cleaned us out but it was Gavin doing the cleaning out in the first half. Laois were looking to play it long in the first half. We were asking a lot for Gavin to keep him scoreless for the whole game and should have dropped a sweeper in front and let Gavin play him from behind. The goals were the result of loosing possession and being a few men short at the back. I was glad we didn't turn to Dessie & Glennon when we went five points down although I hear they were carrying a couple of injuries themselves. The young lads didn't flinch and brought the deficit back to 2 points until the late goal.

Disappointing to see Callum McCormack and Sharry coming off with injuries, nothing serious I hope. All set up for a battle with the Biffos in Mullingar on Sunday. I'm liking the setup of the O'Byrne Cuop this year.
Westmeath - Home of the Christy Ring Cup...
