Would I be correct in saying this is the breakdown of teams per county?

Antrim      0
Armagh      3
Cavan       1
Derry       3
Donegal     2
Down        2
Fermanagh   1
Monaghan    3
Tyrone      3

How are Antrim supposed to improve if they have no representation; could they not amalgamate a few schools in Belfast similar to what they do in Derry and Donegal?

On the flip side that's incredible from Monaghan to have 3 schools represented; how do they do it?

They have amalgamated at Rannafast this year, three Belfast schools I think it is. Not sure amalgamating is the answer either
Let no-one say the best hurlers belong to the past. They are with us now, and better yet to come

Think it is bound to help- can only be a good thing for the county if as many lads as possible are playing at the top level and getting exposure to it.

Yeah i'm in agreement its bound to help; with the right coaching and exposure it could develop the schools to be able to compete on their own down the line.

Amalgamations shouldn't be permitted for schools football at all.

I think MacRory is a bit different to Rannafast in that a few lads are, enticed, shall we say, to other schools for Y13 (Lower 6th in old money) and that mkes a difference.

Even one quality 'signing' can change things big time.

The bigger schools are well known for it for years and years.

Its a difficult one, I'm conflicted, on one hand I agree, on the other I can see an argument for it. However I can't agree with areas such as Belfast that have long established clubs being allowed to amalgamate. FFs get your finger out and put in the yards. St Brigids & St Galls are doing it. As for an amalgamation winning the Mac Rory, as in the Kerry championship, they should not be allowed to progress any further in the competition, the stand allow college should go forward, eg last yr you had St Pats and the Donegal amalgamation in the final, if the the Donegal team had of won, that was there season over and St Pats go forward.
cccc is a true supporter lol

I don't know what it is like these day but back in my time some schools took the abosolute p=ss to get some guys in, academic ability and whether they were capable go beyond GCSE was irrelevant.  I knew a few guys who bluffed about for a couple of years in 6th form and then because there were a decent baller winged there way in to J'town.  Ran out of road after about a year or two and then at 20 / 21 went out starting serving their time as a spark / plumber.

Yeah know plenty like that and actually plenty who kept the bluff up and got into jobs with the degrees lol.

Is it really any harm for boys to enjoy that few years 16-21 and piss about, you'll be plumbing for 40 years anyway so why not play some ball and enjoy your youth.
