TO THE BANNER BORN! the culture behind Clare's hurling supporters - by Flan Quigney, was recently launched in Ennis by Clare legend, Jamesie O' Connor.  The book is a sociological study of a cross-section of The Banner County's passionate hurling followers - the type who would go to see fifteen Clare jerseys hanging on a clothesline!

This book is now on sale throughout Clare at €15 and will shortly be available in Eason's in Dublin, Limerick and Galway. It can also be purchased through: flanquigney@yahoo.ie . All profit will go to PIETA HOUSE -the Centre for the Prevention of Self-Harm or Suicide.

Will it go into that godjaysus awful Clare 'shout'. The banshee being pegged through a rotivator shout? Hope it goes well though, a charity supported by ourselves here recently enough. Or how clare supporters can somehow make their county into two syllables for the chant Clay-Are Clay-Are.

I was listening to Ger Loughnane analysing the All Ireland final and the way he talks it is like he is speaking Irish.
They must have lost the Gaeilge in Feakle relatively recently.
