Best of luck to him. hopefully he will leave us in better shape than he found us in ( Jasus that wouldn't be too hard).
Syf - are you an agent for that  Solan? You're blowing his trumpet all over the place.
I don't want any Ballagh rhubarbs being involved with our lads  >:(

The Solans are great skins, his father runs the bar of the same name in the town.

His record speaks for itself - as does Laois' conditioning this season, nevermind Katie Taylor's - and there's little reason to be looking elsewhere when there's someone that talented on your doorstep.

That said we did opt for John Evans, who made his reputation on umderage and young players and we're sitting on an even better underage record than Tipp.

John Evans appointed Senior Football Team Manager

Earlier this evening Roscommon GAA County Board unanimously ratified the appointment of John Evans as Senior Football Team Manager for a two year term.
The Kerry native most recently managed the Tipperary Senior and Under 21 teams, leading the Under 21s to a historic first ever provincial title in 2010 and gaining successive League promotions with the Senior side during his tenure.

Prior to that he led his local Club, Laune Rangers to four Kerry Senior Football Championships with the highlight of that period being the 95 / 96 campaign where he led the Club to Munster and All-Ireland Club honours.

Details of John Evans' backroom team will be confirmed shortly.

As good an appointment as could have been expected. Experienced manager and coach with a decent reputation. Best of luck to him. All we needed was some stability and structure after last year and hopefully he'll bring that to the table now.

Could me mad enough to be the ideal fit for the Rossies, if it starts off bumpy the locals will skin Evans alive. Does Evans get a good tan during the summer ?

Roscommon and Cavan managerial roles imvho are the hardest gigs in intercounty football.

Two counties mad about football and desparate for the good days to return........ immediately. Throw in a bit of  recent underage success to whet the appetite of the supporters  into the mix and you have a real tough job on your hands.

Have to say I have never ever met a Roscommon or Cavan person who didn't have an interest in football or how their county team was going.

Ah, troll season is here. I can assure you all that you're very late to this one and missed the boat weeks ago.

Better luck next time, though.

Don't mind Sufferus - he lives in a parallel Universe  :-* :D
Poor old Syphilis has his afflictions, sure he's torn between supporting Roscommon and Mayo.

On a point of semantics regarding the title of this thread: it is not possible ever to become the next manager.

Free beer tomorrow.
