Quote from: SaffronSports on January 22, 2025, 10:57:32 PMCity win next week and they're through as some of the ones above them play each other.

City looked very slow last night.

They need fresh legs in midfield, their current set of midfielders have too many miles on the clock and their full backs are also not at the required level.

They very well may qualify for the knock out stages, but won't go much further.

I don't know about that if they beat Brugge at home and get a decent draw in the qualifiers they could be hard to stop especially with them out of contention in league cup and league.  If they get through that and as things stand, they could draw leverkusen, milan, atalanta who they would be favourites to beat over two legs.  They wouldn't fear barca, arsenal, liverpool or inter either I don't think.  They could be helped by a few of these January signings  hitting the ground running.

They are out of most competitions because they are poor and not showing signs of getting better...

They'll reset next year but may take a while to get that energy going again
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

They had won 3 and drawn 1 of their last 4 league games, so there was some signs of improvement of late.  If you were a city fan after 55 minutes last night things would have been looking very good, off the back of giving out a hammering at the weekend.  Foden who was poty last year has also found some form in the last few weeks.  They traditionally at this time of year go on a real charge.

January signings might improve them but what we have seen of them this season in both this competition and the Premier League an exit to team not as good as Barcelona, Arsenal, Liverpool or inter is likely.

Who have they played in that 'run'
They had won one game in 9 a while back, to then have won three out of four (draw against Brentford who should have took a point off Liverpool at weekend)including a 6-0 win in last league game which would indicate signs of getting better no?  Big week for them Chelsea, Arsenal and must win v the Belgian side will probably show a better indication after those three games.

0-0 with some big chances not taken. United had a goal disallowed that even Ally McCoist called soft.

More of a handbags at dawn type game than a major battle.

In the US Paramount+ has a Golazo channel that is just bouncing around all the games as the goals are scored, quite entertaining. Micah Richards, Thierry Henry, and Jamie Carragher are the pundits.

Not sure why pep started gundogan who has been very poor instead of savinho who was striking up a relationship with haaland.

Man City 3-1 ahead. OG and poor goalkeeping for those last two goals. 3-1 it finished. Could play Real Madrid in the next round.
