I was very worried before the game. After losing to us in the McKenna cup final i was expecting to see a fired up Derry side hell bent on revenge.I couldn't believe how hopeless they were today.
I attended my first Tyrone v Derry game in 1982 and i have to say that today's performance from Derry was their worst ever against Tyrone in my time.
Very hard to say how good Tyrone were as Derry were so bad,but to beat them by 12 pts was very sweet nonetheless.Tir Eoghain abu!!

Just like Armagh, you simply never tire of thrashing the muck-savages from the Sperrins.  ;D

Great win for Tyrone, though they wernt really up against much. Derry were very poor all over. Great performances from Clarke, Carlin, McCarron, Harte, Murphy, Mattie Donnelly, Mark Donnelly, Mugsy and Stevie. Would give Mattie Donnelly MOTM. Got through a lot of work in the half forward line, and when moved into full forward line was a great target man and won plenty of ball, hit a great point as well. Been impressed with the way Clarke has settled into the team and looks comfortable there. McCarron at half back has been another revelation and great at attacking.

Any news on Stevie's injury?
Sounds like a walk in the park alright with no keepie uppies in Omagh
How did McNabb play and MF?

Good to see Murphy step up the perfomance after last week and Mattie Donnelly is showing more and more, the benefits of getting a bit of a run.

Like Club Rossa, I was expecting a backlash from Derry after the McKenna and because it's Tyrone. However, they just never showed up and I've never seen such a Derry performance against us. It got to a point, I was getting embarrassed for my Derry friends.

Does nothing for us, as I'm unsure where Tyrone are, especially after seeing Kildare get a good beating in Monaghan.

After the Hill heartache of yesterday, it was good to hear of an in-bred implosion. Apart from the latest McKenna match, Derry had the measure of Tyrone in the last couple of years. Brings back memories of Casement '03 and Clones '04.

In all seriousness, what's up with Derry? Is Brennan on dodgy ground?
I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.

Don't know. Brennan isn't in trouble I just think there is a realisation that we don't have the players and you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. I have no doubt that we will put up a fight come Championship though but at present we just don't have the quality.

Brennan has form in this regard as the Loup were relegation candidates 2 years ago and looked like doing nothing in the Championship yet he somehow miraculously turned them around to win a Championship so he is capable of producing something special from a limited bunch of players. I just can't see it happening for us though I would love to.

At this stage what is annoying me more than the performances themselves is the perceived lack of heart. You can talk about injuries and quality of players all you like but if a team hasn't got heart then you're basically fcuked!!

The problem in Derry is very simple, lack of quality intercounty footballers. Not available yesterday due to injury or not match fit where James Kielt, Enda Muldoon, Eoin Bradley, Gerard O'Kane and Conleth Gilligan. On top of that Kevin McGuckin is recently retired and Paddy Bradley is still a fair bit of full fitness. All of these would be starters on the championship team. Their replacements are untried at intercounty level and to date they look beneath the standard required. We havent competed consistently at minor and U21 level in a long time and the days of year on year Macrory cup success are long gone.

Brennan is unfortunate that he got the job at the wrong time. This will be his last year I would think.

Yesterday was a forgettable day for Derry supporters and there have been plenty of those in the recent past. It should serve as a wake up call to the panel of the level they are at and was is requried of inter county footballers. The difference in ability of some of those on display was noticable but what was very obvious was the massive difference in the fitness levels of both teams.

I have no problem getting beaten by the better team but to be beaten by your biggest rivals with such a heartless display is very hard to take. Its February and a long way off the championship yet but the intensity that Derry played with yesterday was shocking. There was more effort put in by some of those playing at halftime.

The only thing that was worse than the Derry performance yesterday was that of the referee. It seems to be the way the game is going but its not for the better. Consistently inconsistent was how it could be best described. Most of the decisions seemed to be made by the crowd in the stand, whenever they gulgered he blew the whistle. The booking of a Derry player for the "tackle" on Stevie O'Neill was among one of the most farcical decisions I have seen at a game.

Unless there is a massive change in the way the Derry team is set up and the attitude of those wearing the shirt it will be a very short year.

From a Tyrone perspective Clarke at fullback looks like a possible starter which would free Justin McMahon to move out the field. I have always rated Carlin highly and he is now the best marker in the team. McCarron showed well again although he is very one sided. O'Neill was moving well, although was very loosely marked, and hopefully his injury isnt as bad as it looked. I dont see the sense in playing him on as heavy a pitch as Omagh.

The two midfielders where excellent but up against a very limited pair who they dominated. Penrose covers a lot of ground and got his hands on a lot of ball. Everytime he tackles he fouls but he gets away with on account of his size. The two Donnellys both played well but I think the Trillick man is wasted on the wing, looks like a full forward to me.

Its hard to guage accurately the Tyrone team due to the limited opposition and the fact that they are close enough to summer fitness but they are shaping well with the two McMahons, Cavanagh's plus Gormley to come back into the team. Curran will be dropped come the summer and McMenamin based on the form of the current defence isn't going to get a place.

I presume its not possible to see this match on TV anywhere or do TG4 have highlights?

Sounds like Tyrone wiped the floor with them so we can't read too much into it but that's 2 games in a row now we've knocked up big scores and we're scoring goals
It can only be good for confidence and will create huge competition for places

I for one like the sound of this Clarke lad. I saw him last Sat night and he's a big strong lad for 19

Have serious reservations about the same player when the hard ground comes and the pace is of a much higher tempo
