Quote from: johnnycool on July 21, 2025, 04:16:04 PMWill the West Belfast teams make much of an impression in this years senior championship?

Rossa are now finally reloaded with the Murphy brothers after their 3 year sabbatical trying to spread the hurling gospel to our fellow Down natives in lovely Liatroim and will they be able to kick on from their league form to take a scalp or two in North Antrim?

The Johnnies took Cushendall all the way in the semi-final last year, can they repeat or go one better?

Simple Answer is No.

Big Ears will be staying beside the coast.

Cargin, Dunloy, St Brides and Creggan.

Don't think anyone outside that is winning it though Aghagallon might be a dark horse for a decent run depending how the draw comes out.

Be happy to be wrong.

Bound to get it right sometime lol.....

Haha, sure I only missed the winner there. I think that was the quarter final predictions?

I do feel St Brigids are going to show through sooner or later and like last year it is probably reasonably open again this year.

Bannside, any new faces in the Casements line up for this season ? Any major difference you see in approach with Mattie ?

A prominent minor player has signed from another SW Club. Will boost their chances of retaining the MFC, not sure about Adult players but they usually make a couple of signings every year from their neighbours Greenlough.

What's the craic with Ballycastle? Have they no football at all anymore?

SaffronSports

They were in Junior Championship a few years ago but think they didn't fulfil all of their fixtures and haven't heard of them since.

I was at their pitch last year for a camogie match and there was a wee football blitz going on the other pitch but that was only wee totes tbh. They must be trying to keep it alive but not sure what all they have going.

belfastsaff

They didn't field a senior football team last year as Niall mckenna wanted to still play football for the paddies. to enable him to hurl for ballycastle and play football for sarsfields, Ballycastle never entered a team.

Always something!

Laugh out Loud...

No new faces, just a few good minors from last years minor champions, and a few returning from injury or travels.

Big panel, all loving Mattie so far and the set up looks firmly energised again after going a bit flat during Johns fourth year....it happens.

Expecting to be in the mix when it matters.

Did they field a team the year before that or are you just making stuff up?

Na Glinntí Glasa

Ballycastle haven't fielded a team for the past number of years. They did enter a team in the league about 4 years ago but pulled out before it started.

Some of the Ballycastle lads are now involved with the new Cloughmills football side this year so its given them an outlet to play now.
