Surely there's better within Antrim to step up?

Better players?

So, you can only pick what's available

We can talk tactics, fitness strength conditioning and whatever but they've been prepared and manager will take some flack but it's a collective and looking for someone else 3 games in, in his first season is a bit much

I still don't get where people are coming from.  We've been getting hammered at underage for many a year. Dunloy decided to give football a rattle and won the senior championship.  We don't have a stadium. There is zero buzz around the county. We're solidly Division Four and that's the reality.

They've lost McBride, Small, Michael Bryne, a few faces weren't there today also or in the squad, have they went too?

MR2, you're not talking about an u12 team here. You're talking about the best footballers in Antrim. Many of whom played outstanding football for a very long period only last April against All Ireland Champions.

I understand it's his first gig as a manager but to lose 4 or 5 players so early on cries out there's something a miss

Who were the faces that were missing today? Hopefully no one else has jumped ship, we can't afford any more stepping away (IF that's the case)

To sum it up thus far- we have a manager who has yet to get a win, is losing players left and right, and who is also managing Clann Eireann, which at the rate his county season is going he's probably now got more than one eye on the club to try and make sure it's not a complete disaster year for him, as you can rest assured an Armagh club won't tolerate what Antrim county will.

I know the 15 on the field have a lot to answer for but this is a disaster year no two ways about it, and have to look at the top first. Calling it now we will have 2-3 decent Tailteann cup results (decent, not good) and that will be this years highlight. I don't have the answers and now certainly don't have any hope.

Roll on Club championship to have a bit of pride in our county football.

Hard to believe boys on here couldn't wait to get Andy out.

Clubs will at most have had some strength and conditioning done, maybe a couple of challenge games.

We can't be looking at his other job as a reason here. Unless I'm missing something

I went to our game today. Players aren't good enough. How many players do we have who can kick 2 pointers? We have a small midfield and that alone in these new rules means we in serious diffs before the ball is thrown in. Keeper frightened of shorts. We were also show on the line, their 15 & 11 needed man narked, obvious ten minutes in. 15 got marked by moving our num 4 to him, 11 got serious space. Attacking structure was decent enough but why we sat deep in the first galf when they had the wind kicking 2 pointers surprised me. We had non existent kicking in the game as well.

Are you seriously suggesting that the amount of time and effort involved in managing a club team has no impact on him doing his job at county level?

Yes.. most people have normal day to day jobs, 40 hour weeks. I'm not sure of his normal work, nor does it matter..

If he's able to look after Antrim 3 or 4 days a week currently and 2 days or three for club can you say that's impossible? Especially considering clubs are not up and running..

I was actually doing the twitter updates today so had my focus on that and probably missed bits as i was updating things but felt like the 2 point situation was definitely a big difference between the teams. Think Longford landed 6 and Antrim landed 2 with both coming late in the game from Pat Shivers.

They had a few scorers willing to take on shots with 7, 11, 12 and 15 all getting their fair share. We didn't carry the same impact and it felt like we were trying to force our way through a bit with McCabe and Jordan willing to run at players but sometimes it would have been good to have an option to play it back to the arc when Longford packed the area in front of their goal.

I thought McQuillan, Shivers and Murray all looked lively at different parts of the game and Loughran took his goal well but in these new rules, 2 pointers are massive and aside from the 2 Pat scored and one Jinny dropped short, I don't remember many efforts at them so think that should be a big focus for the rest of the campaign.

Confidence will be low after relegation last year and a bad start this year so hopefully they can get a win or two before the league ends and set themselves up with a platform to build on.

Clann Eireann aren't starting to train until March so the can't even be to blame for the shit show.

We are at a low ebb this evening and as has been said before we have have not shown much at underage recently to see anything positive coming along.

How do we change it?

I have never heard of an inter county manager taking a club job in the same season. Not saying it doesn't happen but there's a reason why it's very rare.........

Milltown Row2

The logistics is on the manager but his time with either club or county should be grand in my view

I'd say if you are constantly working at something (coaching manager) it's is second nature?

Where it becomes an issue is if he's meant to be at country training and can't make it as he's with the club team..

The make up of county v club regards to the calendar there wouldn't be many cross overs at the business end
