Quote from: Take the Mark on September 23, 2025, 09:12:40 AMAdmittedly I have not seen St Theresas play since the IFC final last year but unless there is massive improvement it will take more than a handy venue for them to beat Moneyglass.

Agree , seen both this year and think the same.

What a strange venue for the game however , nightmare to get to limited parking and so close to one of the sides

strange and all as it is, i think taking Sarsfields and glenavy to Portglenone is crazier !

Correct but at least its neutral ! Madness of venues for the two games but again what did we expect!

Young saff and TYM,our pitch(hightown) would've been ideal venue for your game v St Ts,but I'd say getting Rossa/Johnnies game at the weekend,CB probably didn't want to push it

Say if St Johns or Rossa concentrated soley on football for a year, could they realistically win a football championship?  Is there much of a cross over between their football and hurling teams?

id say theres more of a chance of winning a hurling championship if they concentrated solely on that.

I would say the chances would be very slim indeed. As for the crossover, Rossa probably have more than St Johns. Neither would have as many as Dunloy I'd imagine. And less quality dual players imho.

I'd say they would have more chance in the football if they went after it.

Too far behind in the hurling and it is a generational thing to correct that.

Generational? Rossa haven't reached a football final in over 30 years. St Johns have made 1 in the past 25, won it once in the 90s I believe. You are reaching by laying the lack of challenges from the pair at the door of 'dual' especially when Dunloy have a strong case to win it this year. And I honestly don't believe the hurling has or will hold Dunloy back in any way this year or recently in the football.

There was a year Cushendall beat the Johnnies after a replay in the semi and the Johnnies should really have beat them and won the championship. I think this crop's ship has sailed.

Both of them really aren't at the level to challenge in either. In the football outside St Galls and LD no Belfast team has really threatened in years that I can recall. (Arguably not too many south west teams have either based on roll of honour mind you before anyone adds that  ;D )

2 most successful clubs in the last 15/16 years have been St Galls & Cargin - both littered with outside talent and not all homegrown. Taken from that what you will.

Take the Mark

It would be futile for me to ask how Cargin have been 'littered' with outsiders in the past so I will refrain  ;D

And 15/16? Try 25/26

Didn't take long for a bite.

I must try harder.

Can litter your team all you like, does not guarantee success - as the Caviar Crew can attest.

Rossa & St Johns could amalgamate and they still wouldnt win either championship

That was their chance alright. Top performer in Ballycastle one game i watched was Nugent at CHB. Hes basically gone, Bradley also. Better players are getting up the years and talent behind isnt the same as other clubs
