They have certainly had a coach/manager who was due to be paid either by the club directly  or via team "fundraising". I've  no problem  with clubs paying managers/coaches- as long as they are improving teams, but some of the money that is being paid out is ridiculous, often with very little impact.

You'd hardly pay the coaches they have ffs none have been a success at any level

same as l the other bluffers. Why not go and spend on decent coaches? They, like so many others will never win anything because they don't have the capability to do so with their own

Kevin Madden at least has the brass neck to go and bluff away from his door step

Quote from: EOC1923 link=msg=2328938 adate=1742143356Well done to Andy McEntee and our own Terry McCrudden, great job lads. £120k per season over 3 seasons to take us backwards and back down to the basement.
Is a cargin man complaining about paying out money to managers?
Pot kettle black

Never!
James McCartan was a great st galls man, great affinity with the club, great club man.

You are the man stupidity saying about paying..That's on you numbnuts

Can anyone let me know the last time the football leagues in Antrim ran from one year to the next with no outside change (structure or team requests).

From the outside a 16 team D1, 10 team D2, & 8 team D3 look ridiculous. And the opening round results don't help the claims that the current structure is suitable.

EOC1923

Completely off piste now. Andy McEntee is a shite manager that we paid a fortune for. Left us in division 4

Where do we go from here? Is it better to pull the trigger now in the hope of salvaging a tailteann cup run or ride it out until the inevitable conclusion? Lets be honest, we arent beating Armagh,
no matter where its played. Surely our county board should be starting  to look at potential successors now rather than leaving it til the club championships are over in the autumn and wasting a lot of time, although I wouldn't  be too confident in that happening. Any potential internal managers out there?

Duine Inteacht Eile

Ah fcuk, where do we go from here.... The same way we have forever.

Our underage teams continue to be neglected and are routinely tanked year in year out. Those teams get to senior and we start throwing 6 figure sums at them.

Our clubs.....some pay managers, some don't.....either way the standard from top to bottom is absolute scrap and is getting worse rather than better.

No point in gloating in the fact that McEntee and his (self appointed) comrades are out of their depth. However I'd be keen to hear what their backers have to say at now, the league seasons end.

Its not mainly to do with management for me. As stated above - too many clubs (almost all) are doing sweet fa at grass roots.

So basically, no point on wasting money on grifters.

Milltown Row2

Ok guys, who'll bring us on?

Nobody. At least not significantly. And that's the reality.

So, if there are 6 figure sums to be invested in Antrim county football annually, where can it be most effectively spent?

But if they are recommended from a certain club is that ok?

I'm not that interested in blaming clubs or taking pot shots.

I am also conscious that we have players who are putting themselves through the mill, giving a lot of time and commitment in the hope that they can better the fortunes of our county. And they're hurting more than anyone.

In that regard, I know it is fairly cold of me to be suggesting that we leave them hanging in the wind and direct our focus elsewhere. I don't mean to be insensitive. It's just that we continue to put generation after generation through the same process with the same disappointing end result.

We can try another process, and fcuk knows if it will be any better, but what do we really have to lose?

Spike

Long term we need to get these development squads to actually do something constructive rather than their current doting dads model

Short term we follow the tried and tested St Galls, Portglenone and St Brigids route to rapid improvement so get the blow ins and players from outside the county working here to join up. If we don't have the players then we need to ship in the players.  We have seen that it works
