The double jobbing is a rod just to beat MD with,Gavin Devlin doing the same with Louth and Magherafelt and its not a problem there, only for Meath pipping them late on they'd be in the mix for promotion to div 1

AS with half a reserve team out. McAleer back with the county will weaken them for this league campaign compared to last

shame the better clubs have chosen not to take it a bit more seriously after its regen last year.

bannside

Pity. Has always been a valued competition in SW, but organisers  pigeon holing it into the calendar just for the sake of running it off hasnt done the competition any favours.

Used to draw some crowd on final day, marching band etc.

U20 had a convincing win against Wicklow ahead of the senior game on Saturday. Reality is our u17/u20 football could be competitive with around half of the teams in the country , but in Ulster we have the underage powerhouses of Donegal, Tyrone and Derry , with the others not that far behind.

This is very true, always makes it look worse when you Antrim taking a hammering from the likes of Tyrone, who are year in year out favourites for the All Ireland at this age. Hopefully in time they will scrap the provincial competitions and place teams in a draw at their own level. An A and B competition essentially and progress from there

Quote from: NatSoSaff on February 16, 2026, 10:50:36 AMDespite a lack of evidence thus far to support positivity, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that we can win the remaining 4 league games. Even 3 out of the 4 would turn the negativity around enough to look forward to the tailteann cup with a lot more optimism. From our current position, finishing on 6-8 points in the league and getting to a tailteann quarters would be enough for me to be content that the new regime is settling and ready to push on next year. But it's the turnover of players that worry me. And this isn't a new thing. People coming and going during the season/out of season, players who should be in their prime for county football. It's been happening for years in Antrim. I get that things aren't easy and the outside scrutiny from places like this doesn't make it any more appealing for people to maintain commitment. But it has to change. Every season the 'championship' 15 seems to change dramatically from the season before. No progression, no 'building' towards something. We can call for the managers head now and watch the cycle repeat all over AGAIN next year. There is no trap door this year, let them get on with it and hope they find their feet soon, because we may be no more than a division 4 team as things stand, but we are better than this. To believe otherwise is a dangerous mindset and in my opinion totally wrong.

Half way through this turnaround and no reason they can't win the final 2 games. I've said before it's not the end of the world for this group to spend a couple of seasons in division 4 if needs be. As long as there are signs of progression, and there has certainly been that this past couple of games. It's of course reasonable that a manager with no prior experience of Antrim football would take a settling period to find his feet and get to know his players. Hopefully the revolving door has shut and this is the final settled playing squad he can continue to build with.

You can definitely tell when the County are doing well based on how quiet this board is.

This should've happened years ago yes. Might make playing minor and u20 county more attractive.

There is a "B" competition in championship , just take a few hidings along the way of getting there usually , one tough championship group can mean one of the bigger counties find themselves in the B comp

It was a challenge match so doubt any media were there. One of the players told me they won by a point.
