I get what some will say about them and the number of players they have from other clubs but would it be right in saying they have been there before their home clubs started ladies football?

They have players from Cargin, Tir Na nOg, Newbridge & Ahoghill in the panel. I know a lot of them seem to have been there for a long time.

Its a bit like Cushendall in the camogie who have players from Carnlough, Glenariffe, Cushendun & Larne in their panels - some of these have no option other than to go there or have been there since underage when their home club didnt have a set up.

One of their best players moved from Naomh Congall in Antrim ?

See i wouldnt have any idea as to the whole panel they have as i don't follow ladies football very well.

I only know some of their players as they play camogie for their parent clubs still.

They must be a serious set up in terms of numbers and strength as they have an odd situation of having their reserve team in Division 1 alongside their senior side. They must just be far too strong for everyone else going by the fact their second team finished third behind St Pauls in Division 1.

Great for them but not for any of the other teams trying to stop them.

I remember a few years back in the camogie there was a push to move Loughgiels second side into Division 1 as they were winning Division 2 year after year. No one was being promoted to Division 1 due to this. But that was blocked as it was felt it would have a negative effect on the league and only discourage other clubs from trying to develop out of intermediate/D2 standard.

Do dunloy have a ladies football team?

SaffronSports

I don't think we need to be criticising Moneyglass for having players from other clubs when you look at the team they beat yesterday.

Theyve built a serious panel there and until this year had won a few feiles in a row so were adding to that all the time with quality youngsters.

No but a lot of their camogs play for Cloughmills.

Exactly. I would imagine they have a bigger pick than the whole of antrim never mind south west antrim in that club never mind the blow ins.

No and there is no plans on that within the club. With Cloughmills having U16 and two senior sides it meets the needs for anyone wanting to play ladies football in the parish.

If we were to start it up it would potentially have a negative effect on numbers so i wouldn't like to see that happen to them.

Cloughmills are pushing for underage football for boys next season so it will be good to see them get that off the ground.

That was down to a disagreement within the Antrim Town club as far as I know.

Isn't that always the way  ;D

it's a serious win given the resources and playing quality of Crokes (which pretty much matches their men's set up).

Players moving to get games is totally understandable, players moving for trophies less so.

I can't though understand "home" clubs celebrating "their" players success under the arrangement when they now have their own senior team, by rights those players should have come back to their home clubs and it's embarrassing for those clubs to celebrate this.

Good to see other clubs building out their codes and certainly Cargin seem likely to make heavy inroads here, one super stronger club (as we have seen on the men's side) does very little for the club or county game no matter the success that club may have.

Some of them may be celebrating, particularly if they are not used to success.  Others maybe just wishing their own girls good luck which is natural.

How much stronger would these parent clubs be if the players returned to them? On the flip side, how much weaker would their current club be?

Division 3 a tough sell for the love of the parish when there are all ireland medals within touching distance

If they are playing permanently for another club in the next or even same parish, they aren't their players, as I said it's embarrassing.

If it was a girl from Randalstown for example who plays football for Moneyglass and that's it then yeah a bit of a red neck but for girls that play camogie for TNN but football for Moneyglass, I think that's fair. I've seen clubs post good luck messages or congratulations for their members being successful in many different sports.

Hectic

Is it not pretty much a legacy thing?

Ladies football has grown a lot in the last 10 yrs around SW Antrim and indeed into N Antrim.

But are the majority not girls who were with Moneyglass because there was no team at their own club?

Hopefully they can get over the line and do SW and N Antrim proud.
