Many here (now, as the one that was is missing) give up their time to do the pictures, match reports and everything else that goes into the Saffron Gael?

Saffron Gael is funded by clubs and county and other generous supporters, the only way it is able to continue is through the actions of the volunteers at the grounds who provide the Gaels within Antrim, and beyond, a commentary of the games, both juvenile and senior at both codes..

Report are sent in I'd imagine bar possibly a bitta word proofing its uploaded. If people on here could assist them in that area I'm sure they'd be grateful, I've noticed this year less people at the grounds doing the reports, so you will get the obvious artistic take on the game.

Most will be reports done by a 'hommer', if you have every listened to a game on local radio when Antrim is involved its hilarious at times the biased commentary, but better than not getting to hear it

None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Agree MR2 , people are sacrificing their own enjoyment of the game at times in order to get these reports out to people , they are no better off for doing it so chastising them on a discussion board seems a tad silly to me. Hard to keep up with a game and get everything noted to include on your report , I for one am very glad of these and enjoy reading as they come in.

Same old story tbh. 99% of people who are doing f**k all criticising the 1% who are trying to bring something positive.

That could be the same with of the reporters getting personal with management teams or players.

Problem is so many homers have an axe to grind with some people within their own club.

Not pointing fingers at BS there either

Tbh, in my experience the Saffron Gael tend to be quite conservative in their reporting with very little controversy. Most times, even if there's a red card in a match, they won't name the players etc. I've even heard it said that they'll edit some reports if someone says something controversial.

Probably for the best in fairness. If they write something critical about someone there's a fair chance you'll bump into that person soon after and not worth the hassle. Imo, they should be looked upon as a resource that is there purely to promote our games and in that regard, they're doing just fine.

Saffrongael

A lot of the reports are done by PROs or someone from the home club, they obviously can't be at every game

Andy gone, who will want it? The (alleged) salary will be one of the only luring quality for prospective managers.

Hopefully the next incumbent will have a fresh canvas to start on at least.

The fact we are in Division 4 might attract a few in. Opportunity to come in and get a promotion to get some good will from the beginning.

May well be but my opinion says the current crop would fail to make it out of division 4 regardless of management - and the retirement of their actual county players won't help that cause. So the next man in has a panel to select carefully.

Who else do you expect to retire after McAleese?

Agree with this they may struggle , however I do think there is plenty of young talent in Antrim that could be bled in and help strengthen the panel we talked about injuries this year etc , a team is only as strong as it's weakest link

One would imagine that McBride, Murray, Jordan would be close to retiring, 3 seasoned players for Antrim.

Rumours of 1 or 2 other lads on the brink of AFL offers.

All things for any prospective manager to be thinking about along with of course gutting out a lot of the squad and adding players in.

TTM would be interested to get a view on who you would think a prospective new manager should be considering bringing in assuming there are a few retirements and after gutting out a lot of the panel.

Assume between retirements, unavailability through circumstances and gutting the panel you need to pull 10 new guys in.

Do you or does anyone feel there are 10 guys who you believe are out there that can add something and are in a position to give a reasonable level of commitment.
