Apparently the football railway cup/interprovincial final will be played in Croke park Sunday 24th Feb at 3:45 All-Ireland junior club football final Ballinasloe v Kenmare is on before it at 2pm.

The key to success is to be consistently competitive -- if you bang on the door often it will open

Am I right in thinking that the football Railway Cup interest is mainly in Ulster? I presume that was why last years final (and Sundays semi), was in Armagh.

I can't see a big crowd going from Munster or Connacht, should they get to a Croke Park final. Maybe the future of the RC is dependant on Ulster success?

Ah, the lame horse called the RC which should have been put down and out of its misery years ago!

+1.
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

Absolutely no interest in this competition, couldnt give one jot who wins it. It's time this competition was put out of its misery in an already pressurised fixture schedule.

Is it because of attendance figures that the RC should be scrapped? So, how many attends Sigerson Cup games? Or Ladies league matches? Not many I'd have thought. I'm not bothered about who wins alot of competitions, but it's no reason to scrap them.

The RC is still valued by alot of the top players and managers in the country. And there are still thousands who will continue to attend these games.

And you could come up with some reason to retain any competition/match/tournament/kick around. The vast majority of fans would prefer to have a league match to look forward to this weekend. The GAA season needs to start to follow some logical pattern and getting rid of a non-event like this would be a step in the right direction.

Can we have our province back please ...

QuoteDublin manager Jim Gavin has questioned the timing and actual validity of the three-week break in the Allianz Football League – and why some of his players are still being asked to play three games in eight days which, he said, is "just beyond me".

Gavin's concern is that despite the league break, meantime there is a full round of club league fixtures in Dublin, the climax of the Sigerson Cup and Fitzgibbon Cup, the semi-finals of the Interprovincial football series, and the start of the Leinster under-21 football championship – all of which will involve members of his panel.

"Players need a break," said Gavin. "They've all got club games coming up next week, and want to go back playing with their club. . . you would prefer if the league didn't start until after the Sigerson.

"Because most of the lads also go back to their colleges this week for the Sigerson and Fitzgibbon Cup as well. So most of them have big games in the next week. To have some guys there playing three games in eight days is just beyond me."

The quarter-finals of the Sigerson Cup are set for tomorrow and Thursday, and the involvement of DCU, UCD, DIT and NUI Maynooth will ensure a large Dublin representation: the semi-finals of the interprovincial football series are set for Sunday, when Leinster play Connacht in Pearse Park in Longford, and again several members of Gavin's panel will be called up.

Then there's the start of the Leinster under-21 football championship, this day week, February 19th, when Dessie Farrell's Dublin team take on Carlow in Parnell Park.

Another reason to question the need for the RC and another example of the crazy season we have.

Captain Obvious

Shouldn't be fixed in February with all those other games going on. Maybe the last weekend of April or September would be more suitable? The proceeds of the final is going to a good cause http://www.gaa.ie/gaa-news-and-videos/daily-news/2/1202131218-interprovincial-crumlin/

What a game! Ulster have some team, gonna do the 3 in a row next sunday. The GAA have their dream pairing now for croke park in Ulster v Leinster, more chance of getting a few heads through the gates now. Lets fill croker next weekend---SUFTUM

When do the tickets go on sale?

Could these games not have been screened on TG4 today rather than show repeats of yesterdays club semi finals.

Arrah no. The more Cake on the box the better for the sport, TG4 clearly understand this fact.

Did they repeat the game again from yesterday? jesus, that cake fella has had his day in the sun already falling around the place. Both semi finals in the football were classics by all accounts.

10 lids in next week, 5 lids for kids, turn up and pay at the gate. Ulster need to get jamie clark on board too, maybe even Aaron kernan. Is the sigerson on next weekend as well? might impact on murphy
