Does anyone see a problem with supposed Christians jumping up and down celebrating the execution of an unarmed man, in front of his wife and kid and then dumping his body in the sea. Perhaps a Muslim looking in might be forgiven for thinking Christians are savages. After all Muslims were portrayed as savages when groups were seen cheering after the 9/11 attacks.

1. The scenes of jubilation were a bit difficult to watch over the top, and personally I wouldn't have been part of it.  That said - I'm not American. Its perfectly understandable - given the moment and the history, the man etc, but personally I didn't like it at the time, nor now.

2. No one knew then if Bin Laden had been armed, nor who was whitness to his killing. This point you're trying to make is therefore irrelevant. That said - I doubt it changes the delight of most Americans as to Bin Laden's killing.

3. Dumped in the sea, or....slid of a prepared board into the sea.... or buried at sea after being afforded a muslim burial rite (washed, robed and prayed over as is the muslim tradition). Take your pick of how you wish it to be described based on your agenda.
Interestingly - Obama is being slammed in the USA by Republicans full of very strong anti muslim fundamentalist sentiment for affording Bin Laden a 45 minute burial ceremony - and being slammed by sympathetic westerners - for dumping the body in the sea.

If someone who was blamed for killing 3000 Irish men during a suicide mission was taken out by Irish special forces ( ;D Irish special forces ;D) would most on here be cheering or worried that some innocents witnessed it?

Me personally I'd have preferred after all that effort of getting him they could have taken him alive and and gone through the legal system as to sticking a bullet through his head and dumping him in the sea
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Myles, are you criticising the killing or the celebrations?

Bin Laden off all people had forfeited his civil rights as far as I'm concerned. Celebrating a death might seem a bit crass but I think anyone affected by 911 gets a waiver.

As for Palestine the US funds a multi-billion war machine used very aggressively against them? Do people really expect them to say thanks?

Ah but sure go easy on them... there's a fierce uneasiness with them here on this thread, stuck between a rock and a hard place of sorts... careful not to show the true colours and come right out to condemn his killing as unlawful but also can't be seen to go against Obama.  :D
No balls I think it's called  :-X

The usual suspects are finding it difficult to accept that the Americans killed Bin Laden, an action that seems to have overwhelming support in the West and with most fair minded individuals.

Right. Let's just nip this in the bud.

Myles, that response will not be tolerated on here, not matter what the provocation. Threatening that someone will 'get what's coming to the them' is a serious thing, and not taken lightly. On the basis that you were extremely provoked, I'll give you a pass, but this is the last I want to see of that sort of post.

Mike, to be honest your initial post was outrageous. To claim that anyone would be happy about 9/11 is pretty disgusting. I realise you like being a clever wind up merchant, but to be honest you are becoming more trouble than your contributions are worth at this stage. You've gone completely OTT in your dealings with certain posters, and you are on thin ice at this stage.

Now, calm down everyone.

so the pipeline is on then.. what about 'our boys' will they be coming home soon.. ::) not a chance afganistan is perfect for all sorts of military ops and sure who cares about a little collateral damage. the yanks and brits wont pull out now the russians might move in again.. this will go on and on as the yanks tighten their grip on all oil strategic areas. they were never going to arrest bin laden he knew too much he could name names and thats not on. this whole thing is just too convienient- too well timed, the election.. the war on terror cost.. this whole compound thing who built it??? more work has been done there recently?? i simply dont believe a word that any yank comes out with..

Muppet, the celebrations is what I am on about. Bin laden was a scum bag. But reports have it that he was unarmed and was removed from his room and shot in the head. Would it not make more sense to interrogate him and get info on others or was the bloodlust for revenged the over riding factor. Or maybe the us is too afraid what he might say about his cia training.

Sheehy also directed the worse abuse I have ever received on this board claiming I was happy after the 911 murders.

Correct... and on another note, does anyone else think it's sickening that the Navy seals are being hailed as hero's for this fantastic act of bravery by this administration yet with the other side of the mouth thon Rat Holden is still pressing hard on the trials against those seals that allegedly punched Ahmed Hashim Abed whilst being apprehended ???
Also..Where is Holden now to file a law suit of why this unarmed man was not afforded a fair trial,
say I don't know, In NY city perhaps like he tried to do for KSM

And one more thing...can we now perhaps expect the troops out of the area by the end of the month and Gitmo closed, promises promises.................................... ::)

Yeh they are called the Army Ranger Wing (ARW) and are respected throughout the world for their actions in Liberia and East Timor.
They may not have the reputation of your countries "SAS" ,but that doesnt mean they arent  a top class unit.
I forgot the smileys  ;D  :P  :D   :) ;)

I'm sure they are magic, could have done with them when the SAS were taking out civilians here in the north during the troubles ;)

Of course the brits would say the sas were actually eliminating terrorists who were murdering British civilians wouldn't they. I wouldn't agree with that view myself
