Mayo4Sam...u must be half asleep over there if u think the whistleblower thing was the only relevant thing that Ming has done. Look at the way he has fought for and defended the rights of people to cut their own turf in their own bogs. He stood on the blockades with them. For what it's worth, he be getting No 1 from me.

What has he actually done on the bogs? Other than kick up a fuss which has changed absolutely nothing, and I mean that, absolutely nothing has changed about the Directive on the bogs, its implementation was blown out of all proporation and then it turns out that it referred to a small number of Irish bogs. Ming has done nothing but to listen to him you would think he alone had the Directive overruled.

I've heard him in debates not know the difference between deficit and budget, but to listen to him you would think he had all the knowledge in the world.

He'll get my number 1 as well to get him the f**k out of Ireland
Excuse me for talking while you're trying to interrupt me

Compensation for bog owners has increased threefold since Ming became the PRO of the TCA.

A large number of people in Roscommon, East Mayo and East Galway have been effected by the EU directives. If Ming wasn't kicking up a stink over it he wouldn't have been representing the people that elected him. You seem to be quite divorced from the feeling on the ground on this issue.

Mayo4Sam

Nothing Ming has done has increased the payments over the bogs, absolutely nothing, people are getting what they are entitled to. I am one of those receiving the payment so I am connected to it and know exactly what is going on.
What is happening is Ming spinning the influence.

I think I'll be voting for him as well. He represents the people who vote for him which should be a given but is sadly pretty unusual.

The only reason compensation was increased from €500 per annum to €1000 and then to €1500 per annum was political pressure. Ming almost single-handedly gave a national voice to a regional issue. Very few politicians or turf cutters could have been anywhere near as effective in keeping the issue topical.

Member of my family are getting the compensation too so please don't pull out the 'I know more than you because..' card. It's pointless.

It would improve the place no end. :)
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

Shrewdness

Should be a big day in the political career of Ming. If he tops the poll, as the tallies suggest, he should have silenced many of his critics and detractors.

seafoid

It looks like a very impressive vote for Ming alright and he plugged very well into the disaffection with the established parties.

Bingo

I hear he has set up his European office in Amsterdam and will commute to Brussels from there.

Rossfan

He has nominated the whistleblower ex Garda wilson as his first Sub.
I suspect Mr Wilson will be heading for Europe after the next Gen Election.

I thought it was some lad running under the Roscommon Hospital Services agenda?

Politically we are about to enter the dark ages in Ireland.

Shrewdness

What darkness? Ming received over 124,000 first preferences. It took more than the Rossies to get him elected. 15 counties spoke.
