What's the format, is it scramble?*

* please be scramble, please, please

Scramble is great. Last time Heffo and Magpie Seanie did the hitting and I.....eh.....em.....holed a putt at least  once.

Scramble is the business for social outings like this.

Great, not sure if Lynchbhoy has a GUI so I assume he'll be on 18? Is that right? And what will the sum of our total handicapps be divided by, I am interested in this as myself and Croí have 2 handicapps even the ladies would be embarrassed by

The only "scramble" I'll be at will involve scrambling looking for a ball!!!!

and touting for sponsorship too no doubt (I havent done that yet btw...I will)

I dont have gui handicap. I suspect I'll be barred from playing golf some time soon as a menace to the fairways and greens though

Just googled scramble (no joke), liking the sound of that, only need to bring the 18 balls with me now, I'll nominate myself as the D player. Have sourced a set of clubs for the big day out and told her indoors I was heading away golfing with another load of lads she's never met. "Well for ya". Will test the water about staying over at an opportune time over the sunny weekend, would hope to.

No handicap either, except for a wonky ankle as a result of a joust with a rake of Slovakian Beer many moons ago, but the scramble will really suit my golf "skills" too. AZ and BC1 you have been warned. At least I knew what a scramble was !

I've been a society golfer for about 15 years and thats the first time I've come across a scramble.

Sounds crap to me, lol. Could be a few arguments about the best drive (longest isnt always the best - ohh err missus). Same thing with putts. A two foot down hiller is harder than a five foot uphiller. It also means that you have 3 others right beside you when you swing the club. I like everyone to look away when I swing (then I can secretly pick it up and throw the ball).

Are you allowed to laugh when someone takes an air shot?

Actually we need helpers who know all the rules to get involved on the day. As far as I am aware there is a rule in there somewhere that sez you can't throw the ball and must hit it with a selection from 14 clubs.  About three days before the event we will announce the final figures on the website. At that stage we will all agree the format to be played.

On another issue, people like orangeman want to sponsor holes on the day but do not know how to do it by way of making payment.

This is what I want you lads to do because I am not setting up a credit card payment facility on the site and I am certainly not going to pay the commission rates others are asking to do it.

There are two ways you can make payments, one is send a cheque by post.  If you are doing this and you are writing a cheque that has a sterling bank account then please:

1.  Make cheque payable to Cormac Trust Fund.
2.  Cross the cheque and state A/C Payee Only
3   Pop it in the post addressed to,  Conal Keaney, Avon Ri, Blessington Lakeshore, Blessington Co. Wicklow.

If your cheque is in Euro, then make it payable to Pieta House, and follow instructions 1 & 2 above. We will balance out the total figures to be equal at the end anyway so it does not matter which charity you make it out to.

Do not post a cheque without crossing it and marking A/C Payee.

Finally, for today anyway, I am saying again that we should not lose sight of what we are about here, the two charities. There are some horrific stories emerging every day about suicides, some unfortunately related to bullying and a service like Pieta House can make all the difference.  In the same way, an awareness of how lives can be saved with defibrillators can slip away into the background were it not for the Cormack Trust Fund. In the last year we had lives saved because of the work that the Cormac Trust fund is doing and in one case, a Dublin Club player was revived with the last shot in the charge of a Defib. He subsequently drove to Tyrone to thank Cormacs Mam personally. All sponsorships will be acknowledged.

I see's that the best supporters of our Golf Classic, Crossmaglen Rangers, are holding their own on 8th July at Concra Wood, Castleblaney, pictured below.  Similar settings or what?

Perhaps a few of us will return the compliment to the boys in Black & Amber?

Thank you very much.  You are a decent man.

Muppet, did you sort out your arrangements for the Saturday? We still have 1 spot free on the All Star BC, KM and AZ team. In further news, I was out on the gallops last Sunday in Slieve Russell, well on the Par 3 gallops at least. First time out this year, and I only lost 1 ball. We're in good shape, coming along nicely. I presume Kerry Mike and Broken Cross are also practising hard?

Brokencrossbar has 26.2 mile to think about on Monday. After that he can start to think about meandering over 5 mile of grass and bunkers.

Don't think I can stay for saturday night. I will play the sat though as well as the friday.

I hope the other 3 can drive as I am of the 'four right' variety of golfer.
