Toal was very quiet today. I can't understand why he plays so deep, particularly as he is one of the few of the forwards that can take a score ???

I assume that he has been told to do that - unfortunately Peadar appears to drift out of games - he definitely went deep today in the second half, but you could argue the ball wasn't coming up! I wonder might he be more effective nearer to goal?

Do you want me to count how many Tyrone Threads have been berated by Armagh girls this past month ::)
One way street, eh Rufus

Yeah, how many?

Agree totally Rufus.  I think Joe should give Peadar a chance at corner forward.

I also feel that instead of taking Swift off today for Floppy, moving him to full forward and taking Keenan off might have been a better option.  Joe later took Keenan off and replaced him with Forker, Swift is by far a better ball winner, and that's what was needed at that time.

You misunderstand - I have no objection to your comment - rather the nature of it - the thread title reads, ' Galway v Armagh', to which my comments concerning the referee applied - you appear to be referring, by way of emoticons, to something outside that game today!

I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you can indeed count! The jury is still out on the reading though - and as for comprehension, that's a definite 'no no'!  ;)

Missed the match today Rufus, can you give me a run down of who played well and who was poor?

I thought Keenan was doing alright, not championship standard though.  No harm to Forker but he just hasn't got it.  End of story.  Toal has to adapt to half forward, when Oisin comes back there will be no corner forward position for him, he's needed at half forward.

Fair enough then Rufus, just couldn't resist the 3rd man tackle part :P

Agree, but the game does seem to bypass him in half forward.  Will there still be a place for him when Oisin, Clarke, Mallon & Marsden all come back?

Well we'll hardly have Clarke or Mallon this year and will be have Oisin and Marsden next year?  I'm not really a fan of Toal but I don't see what other options we have.

Best for us today I thought was Stevie (as normal), Keenan, Charlie Vernon showed well in patches, and the full back line I thought did well (Finian Moriarty, Enda and Andy Mallon (our best player)). Best of the rest? Ciaran McKeever and Paddy McKeever who put himself about late on and was unlucky to hit the post with a goal chance!

As stated though, difficult to guage given the nature of the game.

Armagh Exile

I my opinion we lost out at midfield, especially in the 2nd half, thus the forward line uprfront was starved of good quality ball.
We lost every one of our kickouts and never managed to catch a ball in the middle of the field during this period.  The Crossmaglen youngster, McKenna, if he continues with his present form for his club could be the answer in one of the two midfield postions.
Our defence which was outstanding had to work overtime because of this.  Moriarty had another fine game and looks a good prospect come championship time.

Louis the Red

Even though we lost out in midfield, I felt Vernon had a good game.  Joe should try out Lavery along with McGrane in midfield Vernon @ CHF and Swift at FF.
