Quote from: bannside on February 09, 2025, 10:09:46 AMCan someone tell me why Antrim would want to concede home advantage where they might keep the score down to a respectable level in context of Div 3 team playing All Ireland Champions, never mind facing into it like an away match in front of 15k plus Armagh supporters.

Would be like turkeys voting for Christmas!

Ulster Council need to suck it up because they took eye off the ball and forgot to put that stipulation in place before the draw, and genuine Armagh supporters need to put hand up and say its only fair it's played at Corrigan....and let them watch it on TV for the day if they arnt one of 1780 Armagh season ticket holders (48% of their total)
lucky enough to draw one in an internal Armagh raffle.

Define a genuine Armagh supporter.
I'll take a shot at it.
Someone who never misses a game home or away in the National League Someone who arranges holidays to fit around championship games.
Someone, who, by the time the championship starts will be  £1000 down following Armagh.

Someone who went to Clones year after year to watch Armagh jn the noughties because that's were our games were played to accommodate the crowds. Oh and went to Croke Park to watch Ulster Finals.

Donegal people travelled to Croke Park too for an Ulster Final. No bitching from them.

Wind your necks in Antrim and move the game.

A complete bs comparison. The Ulster finals that were played in Croke Park in the 00's, were in total agreement by all management teams. There was a belief that playing high profile games in Croke Park would benefit the teams when it come to All Ireland semis and finals down the road.

These games were to be played at a neutral venue anyway, neither team would be surrendering home advantage.

Shoe on other foot, you'll be happy to move?
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Give me one single reason Antrim management or players would even contemplate playing this game if its not at Corrigan?

Bizarre comparison. Ulster final wasn't an allocated home fixture for Donegal.
Hold the line Antrim... was Ulster GAA & Croke Park created the Casement Park demise. Why should the GAA capitulate to rich boys' Kildare's 'Newbridge or nowhere' but not give Antrim their request?

So that people who never miss a single Armagh game all year can get to see it.

Hard to bate a bandwagon crowd. No word of half of them a few years ago

bannside

I'm sure Armaghtothebone most of you will be open to the idea that there is a matter of principle here, and that Antrim shouldn't need to concede home venue as a result of miscommunication by Ulster GAA officialdom.

thewobbler

On a quick scan of the last 5 years of the USFC at preliminary and QF stages, it would seem that playing at home doesn't create any form of home advantage.

Time the Armagh supporters made their peace with the fact you're not going to the match. A few of you can come or none. Make the choice.

Armagh season ticket holder from day one, wasn't many Armagh fans in O Moore Pk just before covid when we were well beat in division 3. Will quite happily watch it on TV to back the Antrim stance, and the Armagh bandwagon jumpers should just suck it up and forego a day sending Insta snaps so they're seen in attendance and remember there is a lot more to the GAA than piss ups and selfies.

100%, names in a hat or whatever for the tickets.

bennydorano

Exactly, take the weekend off and go and watch their clubs - a change for the VAST majority.

Think its more likely no antrim fans will be there as the tickets will have to go to the season ticket holders

Completely undermines the season ticket that and not just for the counties involved.  Id imagine they'd have to give as many to the season ticket holders as they can

Yeah I meant season ticket holders in the hat, I wonder how many season ticket holders Antrim would have
