Quote from: AustinPowers on February 07, 2025, 09:21:20 PMAre the  Health and safety requirements for league games  different  to those for championship games?

Does it depend on size of crowd?

The ground has a certified safe capacity.

If you exceed it during a friendly, your in violation of the same health and safety requirements as exist if it were an All Ireland final.

So no - H&S requirements do not change.

OK, so why are Antrim allowed  to play NFL games in Corrigan Park, but  not a championship game?

Because Leitrim do not take as big a crowd as Armagh.

Yes,  but by that  logic , the All Ireland final should be moved to Wembley  or the Nou Camp , because clearly Croke Park isn't big enough  to cater for the  ticket demands

Logic!?
The GAA don't own those stadia and the playing pitches are too small.

Anyway doesn't Croke Park hold as much as Wembley?
Play the game and play it fairly
Play the game like Dermot Earley.

Wembley is a few k more think it's around 90. Croker 4th in Europe after Nou Camp, Bernabeau and Wembley I think.

Any daft point

Ah, Armagh supporters using bully tactics out of the trump playbook. Think of the money!!.I think Mayo had to play in Kildare one year, and a no of supporters couldn't be fitted in. Brings it back to Casement, it shouldn't been closed until the diggers were ready to rock and contracts all signed and all planning approvals, Safety checks etc, done and dusted

I thought with the Newbridge or nowhere thing the capacity was about 6200 and could therefore just about cover the number of season tickets? Which as I say is the major issue. The GAA sold the season ticket on the basis it guaranteed you access to a ticket to all championship games involving your county including a final if you attended enough games.

If the GAA are now forced to change that I think they would open themselves up to a significant lawsuit.

For the integrity of the competition, the game should go ahead in Corrigan Park.

The Leinster counties (laois Kildare Meath in particular) sacraficed home advantage to the Dubs for the short term pay day and in the process destroyed their provincial championship.

If some Armagh supporters miss out that's simply tough luck. They should be compensated accordingly and let the competition progress.

Agreed...members should be covered through clubs, will harm buckfast sales but that's life. It'll also mean not having as heavy a security presence and patrons having their bags rifled through outside the ground

Just have the game at Corrigan and set up a fanzone at Biddy Duffys

So you are saying that the Ulster championship in the 00s lacked integrity because Armagh did not play at home?

Sorry if already mentioned but is Ravenhill a potentially viable (but extremely) remote option, size wise?

The problem is the GAA has already contracted with season tickets holders for a ticket for this match. They haven't contracted with members.

Correct and the t&c say that if the number of season tickets exceed stadium capacity then the Gaa offer no guarantee of seats or entry.

The number of season ticket holders is therefore irrelevant to the venue choice, only relevant to how many tickets are made available to Armagh and how many Antrim retain.

It still makes the season ticket the priority contracted partner. I think it would be a nightmare for the GAA if it's not moved. So whilst I hope Antrim hold their ground (no pun intended) I'd be surprised if they do
