Wasn't for the World Cup, but the Lightning Seeds song with the fantasy football boys was a great song back in '96.

Was indeed didn't they do a remake for the world cup? Germans used the song as a taunt :D

Yeah they re-released it for the '98 world cup and i read recently that they're going to do it again for the upcoming WC.

Not the greatest lyrics but Giants Stadium, June 18, 1994... hard to beat ole-ole-ole-ole... olayyyy! oolayyyy...  ole-ole-ole-ole... olayyyy! oolayyyy... ole-ole-ole-ole... olayyyy! oolayyyy...  ole-ole-ole-ole... olayyyy! oolayyyy...
and that old classic.. Oh! Ah! Paul McGrath...say Oh! Ah! Paul McGrath...

Maybe you needed to be there  8)

Christ I cringe when I hear that olay shite.  A gaelic team over here started chanting it when they won the championship last year.  Nearly boked.  You should be castrated for singing that shite.

In a crowd of 80,000 mostly Irish singnig that at the Giants stadium and Ireland beating Italy 1-0 in the World Cup, I think even a miserable bollocks like you Aerlik would have joined in.

Aerlik is right. That "Ole ole" shite is awful.

I know but in context of that occasion in the Giants Stadium it was mighty. Did you not think so? or as the Vietnem vet said, "You don't know what it was like because you weren't there man... you weren't there!"

Calling it a song is doing it some justice. It's a national disgrace :)

Every concert i go too i have to listen to that "Ole ole shit" before the bands return to the stage for encores ::)

I think with the nation's problems of the bankers, politicians, drug pushers and priest paedophiles scandals, ole-ole is well down the stain list  ::)

Donnellys Hollow

How about Ireland's anthem for the 1987 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand?

The Rose Of Tralee

"The pale moon was riiiiiiising above the green mountain..................."

Still better than Ireland's Call  :D
There's Seán Brady going in, what dya think Seán?

I was there and it is a shite song... a great day though that I will never forget despite Ole Ole Ole, the performance of Paul Mc Grath is what I remember most from that day.
