But then I remember you're not the SF spokesperson here.

Remind me again which party leader has spent the last 2 weeks apologising in the Dáil?

Maybe time you switched to Aontú?
To be fair at least SC doesn't hide from anything.

Defend them when I need to, and attack them when I need to (which ive been doing a lot of in recent months and which is something you, like Rossfan, like to ignore, funnily).

Does it matter? He's said he's voted for them before. He's not trying to hide that or run away from things like Rossfan.

Quote from: nrico2006 on October 22, 2024, 09:59:51 PMI actually think the proportion of column inches dedicated to this issue is far higher than what was given to Donaldson for a far more serious issue(s). SF actually didn't go to town on Donaldson too in retrospect.

If you genuinely believe this, then you're so blinkered there's no point in expecting you to be in any way objective about this. Jeffrey was the lead item on the UK news bulletins and will be again come the trial.

As somebody said, there may be a genuine case that there's an unfair level of scrutiny on SF, but is entirely of their own making. In isolation the smashed painting may seem trivial, but given the timing, pretending it doesn't compound things or that it's all "nothing to see here" is wilfully ignorant. Childish behaviour that brought further attention the party could have done without.

I don't recall much talk from Nationalist politicians on Donaldson though, in comparison to the slabbering going on this past few weeks from the DUP. Crazy when you contrast the seriousness of both issues.

They can't utter a word while it's an ongoing court case. It can be construed as prejudicial and could land yourself in court for it.

McMonagle is a convicted peadophile and Donaldson is accused of paedophilia. Don't see how you could say that what McMonagle did isn't serious.

Like I said a few pages back, you cannot comment on an upcoming court case or there is a risk of a mistrial.

You think they would/should have made hay out of, *checks notes*, a child sex abuse scandal involving a rival politician?!

RedHand88

Theres also the fact that nobody in the DUP gave a glowing recommendation of Donaldson in public, knowing the craic. You can't really compare the 2 cases.

The state of that committee yesterday.  It's amateur hour at Stormont every day. They really aren't capable of running a 'government'.

Banks of the Bann

Agreed. Heard it all on the radio. Carál Ní Chuilín not adding anything positive to the proceedings.

Wasn't that SF's position with McMonigle?

The state of it all really. Sinn Fein, Alliance, DUP and TUV all acting out like school children. Seems Matthew O'Tooles Christmas has come early.
