Yes BC1 I think Burren will win this one handy enough, Cross are too young and in bonus territory at the minute they will be just happy for the experience of Ulster Club football.

Frank Dawson played for St Galls Hurlling and football is a shrewd enough manager and he was Cross last week taking notes (what manager wouldn't?) so Cross are in for a hiding for sure.

the momentum that Burren have and the inside knowledge that the Armagh manager will have given them will undoubtedly be their down fall
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Commiserations about last week, I never properly said hard luck.  Frank is a shrewd manager and has been around a good few blocks and will have all bases covered and avenues blocked.  He will have an Ace in the Pack in POR giving him the inside line on the Cross team and his tactical nous will be invaluable in toppling this particular Apple Cart.

Anyway, I reckon this will be a hard one to call, not Burren's to lose but certainly their's to win.

Was at the game today & have to say was shocked at how poor Coleraine were. You would just hope they had an off day or it says an awful lot about the decline of Club Football in Derry.
Burren weren't tested at all apart from the first 15 mins & therefore very little can be taken out of the game in terms of Burren v Crossmaglen.
Coleraine seemed intent on winning good ball, especially around Midfield were they dominated, but would then time & time again give away cheap ball. Their forward line had no threat whatsoever apart from McGoldrick at 11.

Burren were far more direct & provided good ball for their forwards to attack in space. But I cant see Cross giving Burren the respect or the space that Coleraine afforded them today. Id say Cross will get in Burrens faces more in terms of intensive tackling & pressure on the man on the ball, which at times was no existent.
Hard to call next week but it should be a closely fought game.

Houl on - just flicked back to the front of the programme containing the Burren team.
Has Sunday November 13th, 1983 written on it.
Davitt Park Lurgan.
Ulster Senior Football Club Championship Final.
There may be one or two positional changes since then on the current Burren St Marys side.

It happens in club football this time of the year, remember mayobrdge got an awful hammering from Ballinderry about 4/5 years ago, something 20 to 03 or so.  Things go against them and especially for a team like coleraine who had surpassed their wildest expectations, they just decide that enough's enough.
They were very impressive at times in derry, but a more experienced, solid all round side would probably have performed better today.

That number 14 was some player.

Anyone know what he's doing these days? I heard someone say that he was under the weather and in a right royal mess.

St Gall's and Burren played out a low-scoring but hotly-contested final on a very heavy pitch in Lurgan in the 83 final and my memory is that it went to a replay before Burren won. Aidan Murdock and big PJ O'Hare had quite a battle on the edge of the square, but Burren were a fantastic team at that stage. They went to Cross and won along the way, and are capable of another big performance next week.  This year's Burren side is not as physically strong as the 1980s version but they
have great pace and are very well organised. Eoin McCartan gives them a touch of quality when he comes on, and he is due a bit of decent luck.

With all this talk about Burren and cross I would love to be the winner of the other semi final as they have just been purely dismissed.. went to the game today, thought Burren were extremely well organised, they worked exceptionally hard,  they have a terrific game plan and get a lot of men behind the ball quickly, Cross will find this hard to break down especially without their star forward, I wouldnt install Cross as favourites, if anything I would have Burren as raging hot favourites after the way they clinically disposed of Coleraine today.. Frank Dawson is really proving his worth as a top class manager and maybe could find himself in intercounty management soon...
Has he not managed the County Hurlers in the past? or does that not count?
