No surprise St Galls lost when you consider their preparations in the last couple of weeks. They got what they deserved.

No matter what happened on Sunday Cross are still not a shadow of their former selves, unfortunately they may be on the verge of another dynasty, but the few Cross ones I have been speaking to since the game are very much aware that they are a work in progress.  They were up for this game bigtime and it showed, it'll be hard to do that again in the semi as favourites against a team who'll have dissected their performances and will be every bit as committed.

Cross looked so ordinary throughout the Armagh championship, they are a dangerous beast with their tails up but they still have the same weaknesses they had during the county champ - probably worse due to suspensions now.  I get the feeling they are praying for a Coleraine victory this weekend as Burren have the tradition and wouldn't be at all cowed.

disgraceful, imagine an amateur player daring to go to a nightclub (of sorts), and it only 4 days before a game.

Good by performance by Cross, some players that hadn't shone in the county final played better, TK and McKenna for example. Oisin played as well as he has in while and that is saying something. Is there a player in Ulster with half his scoring total  in the Ulster championship or all club championship games? St Galls did lack discipline, there is no point in giving away frees or having them moved up against Rangers, who have Oisin, TK and AK more than willing to punish petulance by the opposition. In same cases Cross could have been a bit calmer themselves, if Morgan was more experienced he might not have been so enthuasiastic at that time, when you know the ref is likely to balance things up. Johnny Hanratty has a huge workrate, but is not the tidiest tackler and could benefit from tightening things up in this respect.

Coleraine might be perceived as easier, but Burren might be easier to get crank up the machine for.

I he is talking about Kevin McGoat it was a lot more than last Wednesday. He was flat out. That's why he didn't start.

As bad and as well beaten as St. Gall's were, they still had plenty of chances to win the game. The penalty, Niblock's back heel and they missed some amount of chances for points.
They seemed very slow yesterday, especially in their forward line. They had nobody who could beat a back for pace.
Clearly suffering from delusions.

Just stating what I was told. If true it is disgraceful IMO.

someone said cross are f**ked if they need to bring back john mac, well if galls are bringing on ohare i know who is f**ked!

Very true, has he done any training since 2002?

It was very evident from the start yesterday that St Galls were trying to match Cross physically, but they went about it with cheap late hits and digs whereas Cross hit fair and hard.  The shoulder from Hanratty on Gallagher was immense, and it really lay down the marker to the St Galls players who until that stage were hitting men late when they were after kicking the ball or firing sly punches to the sides of peoples heads.  There was a huge contrast in attitudes from the beginning, as someone already mentioned Gallagher hitting ther ball out of a Cross players hands at the start when a free had been given, well alot of the time I saw Cross give away a free their players just rolled the ball towards the opposition player and got on with it without any yapping.  They seemed very well disciplined apart from the moment of madness from Morgan (did he slide in or slip?).  Tony, Stephen and Aaron Kernan seemed to have an unbelievable amount of possession, and they used it well.  The Cross forward line showed up well in front of their man each time and their link up play up front was very good.  The Red for Hanratty was very harsh, especially in comparison with the deliberate swing of the elbow from McGourty at a mans head moments earlier which the referee clearly seen.  How did he not get a straight red for that?
It was actually a foul. Gallagher was soloing the ball at the time. McGourty should definitely have walked though, contact or not he swung an elbow at the man's head. Not even a booking, not sure what the ref was at!

Also, some have said it wasn't a penalty for Cross. It was a clear obstruction, moment of madness from Sean Kelly. Often you don't see them given, but I think it was the right call.
If you accept that it was clear obstruction then under the rules it has to be a penalty, only technical fouls ie handling the ball on the ground or over carrying can be given as a free.

Talk of Cross hitting Galls hard may have been true 2-3 yrs ago. From what I gather this Cross side are a shower of lily-livered buttercups.

Yeah. ::)

Great result for Cross yesterday although they maybe have another gear to find.

While it is still great to see McConville striking over the frees, thought Aaaron Kernan was MOM yesterday.
Hopefully Paddy O'Rourke was watching yesterday and realises that experiment is over.

Cross will need a few more scores from Tony ( who played well without scoring) and Stephen the next day.

McKenna is a bit frustrating because at times he looks unplayable and then can drift out of a game ( bit like Ciaran Whelan).

Despite being his first year Tony Mac seems to have his head screwed on and will not be getting carried away about yesterdays performance.

Good summation, they have a way to go to beat the likes of Dr Crokes. AK was my MOM as well, I was impressed by McKenna even if he does drift abit surely a better County option than some who have been tried. Also agree that AK's position is wing back.

If it turns out to be Cross v Burren, it'll be a bit shite to be dragging all those teams up to Casement. Newry would be closer to all four clubs, even if it might lend Burren a slight advantage.
