O Shea gets his first win as Ireland manager, a 2-1 win over Hungary.

Maybe they should keep him on for the nations league games as a trial to see whether we keep him on for the important world cup qualifiers.

Mikhail Prokhorov

Def keep him, nobody else wants it ffs

kenny, lennon, keane x 2, poyet, sangol

none of these guys would do any better

at least o'shea wants it

Is Robbie Keane's  reputation not tarnished  now  , with him taking the Shekel?

Jell 0 Biafra

Two goals? Like, in the same game? Is this a misprint?

O'Shea looks likely to get it. Don't think he has done anything really outstanding but maybe he could grow in the job. Certainly a higher ceiling than Kenny.

Smallbone put in a nice cross for the goal. A few too many sidewards merchants in the team. Ireland were at their best when they tried to play forwards but that wasn't often enough. Some players don't show enough energy and just stroll about doing very little.

Parrott should have squared to Szmodics but got lucky and the ball went in the net for the second goal.

Not sure if it's been better performances the last couple of games under O'Shea or just the optimism of a new regime. To be honest I don't really think any manager would get them going places right now. It has to be about small steps of improvement. Probably a campaign or two away from being capable of challenging for qualification. Euro 28 at home may be their best bet.

I don't know if it was very clever play by Parrott or he was just being a greedy **** but it was a poor supporting run by Szmodics, half yard offside at least so pass wasn't on. Good clean pair of heels by the scorer at least regardless of the lucky finish.

Agree O'Shea has the look of someone to grow into job. Came across very well in interview, looks to be pragmatic about where we are but will demand more of players to be more positive. Clearly buzzing to be in job but not in a daft way. Has the cut of a lad who the players will respect but feed off.

Bit of luck with the goal just like the luck Hungary got for their's.  Maybe OShea could be a lucky manager for us.  Hopefully Smallbone will keep his place in a Premier league team, the new centre half from Lyon will continue to improve and the new Leicester front man.  A few green shoots there but the longer the FAI drag their heels, the more difficult it is for a manager to prepare for the next tournament

JPGJOHNNYG

At least his interview wasn't a complete train wreck unlike his predecessor.

I'd rather O'Shea gets the job rather than the likes of Poyet who had been mentioned a couple of months ago.

2-0 down to Portugal. Ronaldo just scores a spectacular goal. Must be getting up there in years now.

He's some operator at almost 40.

A real professional.

The lad near 40 years old too much for the Irish.
